Has anyone tried these lipless cranks? If they are as good as a rat l trap I am buying a bunch because they have a 2" crank that weighs 1/4 ounce, so that will help me cast a smaller profile bait farther. I have heard from some people they have actions even better than traps.

I have never used one but IMO, you can't go wrong with a Rat-L-Trap.

Last year I bought a handful of almost every lipless on the market-the XPS Rattle Shad was the only one that I didn't catch fish on....never was so happy to lose a lure. I gave them a fair shot too in one of my ponds that no one else fishes.  After I lost my last one, tied on a Super Spot and started catching fish so I am convinced it wasn't just a bad fishing day.

the Super Spots are on sale right now at my BPS for $1.88...can't go wrong with that.

I like them  alot.  I would place them somewhere between Rat-L-Trap and Yozuri quality-wise.  As for fish catching ability, some days the bass like one rattle bait and not another so I carry several brands.  The XPS are among my favorites, though (i.e. I tend to start with the XPS or the Yozuri from among my collection of Rat-L-Traps, Yozuris, XPS's, Cordell Spots and Lucky Crafts).  YMMV

I have used them quite a bit and they definantly have a place in my lipless cranks box.  Like said before, sometimes they want a different brand/sound, but I have had success with the baits.  The hooks that they come with are pretty crappy, so I suggest you switch them out first.  There were times this last fall/winter that I would get a few on a Harcore drum, then switch to the BPS trap and get twice as many fish.  Another underated lipless crank IMO, is the Xcalibur Xr50.  I have days where the fish want a trap and nothing but the Xcalibur will work.
