Berkley Havoc Pit Boss

Saw these on the shelf at sportsman warehouse this weekend. Bought 2 different colors. Black/Blue and California(Looks like green pumpkin with red flakes). Are these to big to fish on jigs with the matching colors? Also how else could I fish them and where to fish them? (open water or around trees, stumps etc.

My son does well with them texas rigged, in Big Texan color. I don't believe he uses them as a trailer though. Mostly shallow water fishing timber, riprap, weeds, docks, and sea walls

With the Havoc line you have to have a weight or else it will take FOREVER to sink.

I fish the same color the same way. Flip and pitch mainly. Yes it can be used as a trailer. skeet reese the designer does so I would say yes. I personally don't but you can. Pitching to cover with them has been the best producer for me. T rigged with a 1/4 Oz weight.

i have put them on jigs and texas rigged them and caught fish using both methods im sure a jig head would work also

Pitching to cover with them has been the best producer for me. T rigged with a 1/4 Oz weight.

All of the above PLUS... Good for C-Rig. Pinch off the middle 2 flappers and it's a fantastic jig trailer. I insert glass rattles into them and flip them with a 3/8oz weight 99% of the time though.

I started to get the black/blue ones today but opted for some tubes. Kinda wish I had grabbed them instead. Right now, though, a couple of jigs and some trailers are first on my list.

_{Caught my PB on a green pumpkin Pit Boss earlier this year - also caught my last bass of the season last year on one that was black/brown (don't know what they call it). If you are going to use 'em on a jig, I would suggest a small one (no more than a 1/4 oz) - I typically use 'em T-rigged with a 1/4 to 3/8 oz bullet weight depending on the water depth and the wind.}

Pinch the middle tabs and they lose ALL action. It makes it a completely immobile appendage.

If you want a jig trailer, get the Pit Chunk. It's a slightly smaller package and it does work well.

WHAT!! i cant believe i havent seen the pit chunk! If these work as well as the original pit boss i will be in heaven. Although it will be hard to take off my paca craws or rage craws, i will certainly be trying these asap. Thanks Hooligan for pointing these out!

Real good looking bait. I have thrown them a few times and they will get the job done! very good ptiching bait and if you wanna use it as a trailer id just suggest to trim it up a little

i just googled the c rig and cant seem to find a pic of it. all the images that are coming up look like a texas rig not unless they are very similar in rigging. could you post a link or picture of how to rig it this way. may try it on other baits as well.

By C-rig, he means carolina rig. It is like a texas rig but the weight is further down the line, which allows the bait to float up a bit from the bottom. Try googling "carolina rig" and you should see many pictures.

Been using them in blk/blue and green pmpkn on my homemade jika rigs. Works very well near weedlines and in cover so far.

i always use them as a trailer on my jigs when im flippin, and i really like them for C-rigging aswell.

You may be surprised but one time when i was goffing around with my friends i tried the pit boss as a top water and i caught a 3 lber. It was wierd.
