dday07 Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 I remember about 2 years ago or so looking at all the great bass shows on that channel and being envious...i recently got this channel and seems there are alot less bass shows now.....i'm i mistaken? Quote
prjavelin Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 I HATE THE FLY FISHING SHOWS THERE. they always talk about themselves like they are better than everybody else. I also hate the commercials about the fly fishing shows, I HATE THEM. I dont like the australian fishing tournaments. Those suck and are boring as hell(for some reason i compare them to the bucket fisherman just waiting for the fish to bite while they do nothing). just waiting for the fish to find you. I dont like the tarpon fishing shows either. what i like: Anything bass. I can watch the musky and pike shows but i prefer bass by a long shot. My fav shows are: Getting Schooled by JP DeRose Facts of Fishing Lunkerville Quote
0119 Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 I dont know, their bass shows arent any better. You got that giggling idiot. Extreme Angler with blaring ghetto music so loud you cant here what he says. WFN is Canadian and bass arent a mainstay species up there by a long shot so I dont think we can expect them to have a majority of bass shows. I used to think those fly fishing posers were so full of themselves but these days it seems the bass tournament "pros" think they are hotter than nascar gods. Quote
BassAssassin726 Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Like what was just said, WFN is Canadian and bass fishing isnt the majority there by a long shot. I prefer bass fishing but I honestly would rather have a variety of fishing shows (fly, salt, fresh) than watch the same guys, say the same stuff over and over and catch 2-4 pound bass all day. It gets boring. Even shows like Big Bass Tour, its all mostly 4 pound fish. I thought it was called BIG BASS TOUR? lol. And i agree with Charlie, Im taking an interest in fly fishing and those guys on WFN are very pompous and full of themselves but the way some of the bass guys act is just sad. Like dude, its a 3 pound fish, relax. I forget the one guy, i think its Facts of Fishing , Mercer? Giggles like a girl on every fish, its incredibly annoying. Quote
BassAssassin726 Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Although I will say that Lunkerville is awesome and probably the realest show on that channel. Mike D. is the man, hes humble and down to earth. And he fishes with regular Joes. Sometimes they dont even catch fish. I doubt youll ever see Dave Mercer or JP DeRose never catch fish. lol Quote
prjavelin Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Whats do you guys think of shows like lost lake? That show is very good and shows the pros trying to find fish in unknown.lakes. I often think how many hours they spend fishing and trying to catch the fish to film the show guys like jP derose. I like the facts in mercers show. Knowing how many casts it takes gives you a bit of perspective Quote
BamaBassChaser Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 I wish they would film some new episodes of the bass shows. It seems like every one of them is a re-run. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted June 20, 2012 Super User Posted June 20, 2012 I don't have that channel. Even though I no longer fly fish for trout I enjoy those shows. I don't care to watch any kind of tournament fishing, to me fishing is not a spectator sport. I love tarpon fishing as much as anything, I can't watch those Boca Grande tournaments. Not only are those boats literally on top of each other, but I do not like the weigh in procedure. A good fish is caught, then motored to the weigh in location with the fish still in the water. It is refreshing to see the all girls team landing those 150# fish. Quote
jdw174 Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 There's been more than one GOOD bass fishing show that's fallen by the wayside that would make good fare for WFN, Outdoor Channel, or the Sportsman's Channel. Larry Nixon's show was one of the best ever on the tube IMO. Gettin' Schooled was another. Classic Patterns is gone, at least for this year, and so, apparently, is Lost Lake. (Meaning no new shows forthcoming). Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted June 20, 2012 Super User Posted June 20, 2012 I find all fishing shows boring, ( I like fishing not watching TV) But that little elf guy with the annoying voice and the 2 lb test line is worth the price of admission. And I think Mike D having a max IQ for his guests is brilliant. Quote

NBR Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Regardless of the program it is better than General Hospital, How the World Turns and most others> 1 Quote
