kwilf Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 I wanna get a new jig trailer and I've heard rage tail craws are good but what colors are good for a muddy bottomed pond with weeds and some trees. I have a green jig and black/blue swim jig. What are some good trailers for each? Quote
matstone7 Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 The baby Rage Craw or Rage Craw in summer craw for sure is a great start along with a blk/blue for your swim jig. Quote
BassinNY Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Ragetail Grub: Black/Blue Flake, Any Green Pumpkin color for the green jig Rage Craw: Same as above Also don't be afraid to throw a straight white jig with a white grub. Most under utilized combo in jig fishing. Quote
Big-O Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 I think the Summer Craw is terrific for many waters and not just ponds due to the Chartreuse laminate. Green Pumpkin or Watermelon Red are also popular and can be tipped w/chartreuse if needed. These color patterns are good in many water clarities and daytime situations. If the waters stained or have poor visibility, Black n Blue or other darker colors might be best... Falcon Lake Craw color is my Go-To in most all of the lakes that I fish but haven't fished ponds with it as of yet Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted June 15, 2012 Super User Posted June 15, 2012 Just curious since you brought up the Falcon, What color to you face up? I take it it was designed to be head up wile it's laying on the bottom or does it matter? If Falcon is your Go to trailer I'd love to see your go to jig color. logan9209 Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Interesting thing about the black and blue jig. It can be fished day or night and, from quite a few people, does really good. With that color jig you have a nice selection of colors for your trailer: black, black/blue flake, and any variation of blues that are out there. You could also do sorta the same with your green jig. Any green, orange, purple, brown, and even chartreuse. There are times when the bass seem to want the matched jig/trailer. Other times a complimentary difference in colors will draw the attention of the bass and before he knows it you have his eyes crossed. One of the things I'm starting to learn is to play with the colors. A lot of the pros got to where they are because they were willing to think out of the box. Hope this helped. Quote
Tim Cianciola Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 i use the watermelon with red flake myself on my blue giil, black blk and on my white and blue swin jig Quote
