Frog Grabbin'

Just got back from frog giggin'/grabbin'! 15 frogs (grabbed most of them with our hands), 2 crawdads (a little appetizer), and 3 water moccasins! Can't wait to fry up the critters! Anybody else do any giggin' or grabbin'?

That, my friend, is just plain creepy.. Frog legs and crayfish is fine tablefare but moccasin makes me a bit squeemish

Nah, we gig the moccasins. But, yeah, we eat them. It's like eating ribs; not much meat, but it sure is tasty!

Haven't eaten frog legs in a long time, good eating but lots of work too. I've never really gigged or grabbed for them, we always used a fishing rod with a plain hook and a grub and just shake it next to them. Those big bullfrogs can't resist it and fight pretty good on light tackle. I've had rattlesnake and it's pretty decent but you wouldn't catch me trying to catch them just to eat.

Give it a shot, we mostly did it during the daytime. They'll come a long ways to eat a grub if there is enough competition for it. It's very entertaining for sure.

I quit gigging frogs when I was a teenager in south Louisiana.

The frogs and bugs were not the problem. Seeing those two small eyes shining back at you was the problem.

Gators and snakes. I don't like to be in the water or along the bank with either.
