Micro Guides With Briad

descided to give the carrot another try, have my daiwa aggrest on it, loaded with 50 lb suffux braid, i am not sure thsese are straight up micro but they are tiny, anyway reeling and throwing, the braid seems to grind the eyes. I have no eyelet problems. is the braid gonna grind my eyes away, is this a problem or what. please help

Different eye material makes some braid noisier but Ive use braid for long time even on cheap uglysticks with no wear issues. Though my Performance Braid is the worst braid I have use as far as noise goes, this line through my Croix Premier sounds like a violin dont even use PB anymore. I have Quantum Smoke with micro-guides and use powerpro super8slick and it is very quiet hardly noticeable.

I wouldn't be concerned about the guides. Noise does occur with some combos of mine, now that I understand it I hardly notice it.

Its part of the deal. Ever watch Bass fishing events on TV when they are jigging in heavy cover? Once the hook is set and they start reeling in, thats all you hear is the braid.

oh duh, i hear but never pay any attention, on my hollow body frog rod i never hear anything, so guess somthing new caught my attention, now just gotta worry about it snapping on me lol

I had the gold carrot stick used it for about a year and broke the rod in my car door aftwer looking at the last eyelet my braid had almost sawed all the way though it . That was the old series before the mico guide 1s. I use braid 100% of the time and that is the only rod i have ever had a problem with i owe many different brands and have a smoke rod with micro guides and havnt seen any issues

Okay I just bought a carot stick wild micro should I just refund this since I have not used it? I do not want any crap rods with braid cutting through the eyes or snaping when I set the hook I was hoping they got things figured out.

people are 50/50 i have seen people say the wilds suck and love the cork pgs, i was told the wilds were best, idk this is my second i got a steal on it, plus i love orange and how it weighs, so i doubt if this last less than 2 season i will get another, to be honest i havnt heard 100% positive on any micro guide rod, so idk, maybe some one will come along

Well I bought it at BPS and it felt amazing I loved how light and how the tip loaded up and it was cheap. I was told that all problems were resolved well I am going to try it out Saturday jiging so it will get a work out I have been known to set the hook on tree limbs and trash in the water so we will see I guess. I have faith that BPS will take care of me if anything goes wrong. I really wantto like this though I mean I bought one through all the bad rap even My Wife even said she wouldnt buy anything that said Carrot for fishing, But once again the weight of that rod was fantastic and the tip speed and back bone felt and looked like a winner. Well time to spool up some Pp and go sawing and snapping Carrots LOL. Oh I sure hope not. Tight Lines fellas.

hey, i was talkin to my friend about an hour, he super ticked, got his carrot wild black at the spring bps classic, well he said he finally fished with it, broke on second fish, said it snapped clean like somone sawed it, i never heard so many F words in a 1o min conversation . good luck man

GREATTT I guess I will make a trip back to BPS and refund for something else.I just dont know what I will get now in the 150.00 range I really liked that rod. I guess I could just use it and see what happens then return if it snaps. I really just dont want to hear the wife I told you so crap. Then telling all of her dam yappy friends he buys all this stuff that cost so much and he tears it up. Yea I did break a St Croix avid once in the sun roof. Anyways thanks for the update.

I bought one at gander for 75, returned it next day for another(buttcap fell out), then returned this one because of a crack in the blank.

I love the gaudiness of the rod and the feel but the reliability is Audi 5000 ish

The wild black carrots are supposedly good but I like the ernge color more

I've never had a problem on any rod with any type of guides, and I've used it on about all possibilities.

Me either..........don't understand what the hoopla is all about. Not saying I would never buy a rod with micro guides, but I probably would not venture out with the sole purpose of owning one.

What advantages are to be gained?

I dont see any advantage. If anything, because the guides are smaller, the line has more of a chance of riding them while casting, thus shortening the distance. Thats what I would think would happen anyway.

I have 2 mirco guides, i cant tell the differance in distance or anything, hell, it is harder to line, if i am breaking somthing off and the line slides through an eye or 2, hot and sweating on the shore its a witch to do.

Well I took it out its stil all together I even hoisted a 3 lb to the boat all rod it did not snap so far I am more than pleased with this rod I will put it through its paces the next few weeks.

The advantage of micro guides is weight savings especially in the tip area. Using the smallest lightest guides that will do the job allows the blank to keep more of it's inherent design features. Guide/line friction on a cast is minimal. If anything micros manage the line better and aid casting but the weight difference the real advantage.

As for using braid with micros or any other modern quality guide there is no problem.

I definitely have less line fouling on my micro rods than the standard, especially at the tips. I have to unravel line from around them much less. I prefer them other than when you have to string one up.
