sbrown322 Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 It seems to me that the ponds i fish in the bass are biting more on soft plastics that on any type of cranks or buzzbaits. They also dont seem to bite during the mid day and the bite gets better as the day goes on. I was wondering if anybody else is seeing the same sort of thing? Responses appreciated!! Quote
Cjfulk Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 I've always had luck in ponds (in the summer) fishing at around 4-5ish and using plastics. I reckon the water temp and strength of the sun coming through the water is too much for mid day. Quote
dale.m Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Here in NC I've had consistant results on plastics. Every now and then they will bite on a buzzbait, but only when the sun sinks below the trees. Other than that, it has been pretty slow on everything else. Quote
Miller's Ferry 8 Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 I have a pond behind my house and when it gets into mid day and gets hot, and in Alabama it gets pretty hot, I fish the deepest part reeling a crankbait on bottom with a slow retrieve. Quote
JohnnyHop Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Here in Central PA my brother and I have a favorite little pond where we fish quite regularly. Dark, stained, warm water. Usually the bite slows down/stops completely as midday approaches, and the fish retreat into deeper water. However, we can still pull some smaller fish out of the weeds throughout the day, regardless of how hot and sunny it is. Wacky rigs w/ a weed guard pull 'em out every time. Quote
