BassinMD Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 I have been looking for an easy handling high abrasion resistant line between 15-20#. I have tried Berkley 100%. Seaguar red label. And stren flouro. All were disappointing for me any other suggestions ? And thoughts on viscious line Quote
OnthePotomac Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Vicious is certainly reasonably priced for Flouro. I was given a spool of 10lb and used it for over a year for Senko type fishing and found no fault with it. Heck, for the price, buy a spool and try it. I am not using it now only because I had a supply of BPS XPS flouro I am still working through. Quote
21farms Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 bassinmd, it'd be helpful if you told us what you didn't like about those lines you tried. lately, i've been using seaguar red label and XPS fluoro and can't find much fault with them. personally, i am no fan of the regular vicious fluoro...when you run it between your fingers, it's "bumpy" (varying diameter along its entire length) and on the thick side. Super User LgMouthGambler Posted June 14, 2012 Super User Posted June 14, 2012 Well, if you want strength and manageability, go with YoZuri. Its not a true fluoro, but its unbelievably strong. The 12# is a break strength of 20#, its basically twice as strong as it is rated for. Maybe that will help. I use it in 12# and 20#, and never trusted a nylon type line, until I tried this stuff. greyleg33 Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 If it's any help to you, I've searched and haven't found a heavy fluro that doesn't have a lot of memory. Quote
A-Rob Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Vicious Pro Elite is good stuff. Seguar Abrazx I heard was good and maybe worth a try I've used Maxima Flouro, it is super strong but a bit wiry YoZuri is great and for the price hard to beat (as it was mentioned above, not a true FC) Quote
BassinMD Posted June 14, 2012 Author Posted June 14, 2012 Awesome thanks guys gonna give the xps a shot next I think if they ever have it in stock : P, and the problems I had with most of them were memory and poor abrasion resistance I just snapped off 2 fish Saturday on the red label in open water one was at the knot ( probably my fault ) and the other was about 5 feet from The rod tip with about 30 yards of line out doubt I had a nic way up there but I guess you never know. Ty guys for the advice Quote
A-Rob Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 KVD said the pros will put up with the break offs with the FC b/c of the other positives FC has. He acknowledges that FC just breaks sometimes haha I believe the san diego jam knot has allowed me not too hate FC hahaha Quote
Kahuna bass Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 All, I've had great success with Toray's Super Hard Premium-Plus High Grade Fluorocarbon. Blackwater International is the U.S. distributor for Toray of Japan. Solid line that handles abbrasion very well. Tackle warehouse is one of their retailers. Mel - Kahuna bass Quote
.Paxamus. Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 LOVE Sunline Sniper!! Use it for pitching jigs and plastics in 15 and 20 lb! Quote
Super User webertime Posted June 19, 2012 Super User Posted June 19, 2012 I love my Sunline Sniper 16lb. Quote
james 14 Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Pay very close attention to the line diameter of whatever you buy. While Yo-Zuri has a higher break strength than what it's rated for it also has a larger diameter than some other FC's. For instance, it's 6lb line is the same diameter as 10lb Abrazx. This is just one example but it's something to look for. Not all lines of a certain lb test are the same diameter. I've had good luck with Abrazx, Trilene 100% and Spiderwire Ultracast. I too was wondering about Viscious line because it's the only thing I can find locally that's heavier than 12lb beside friggin' Vanish. Quote
BassinMD Posted June 20, 2012 Author Posted June 20, 2012 Y made the vanish mistake once it quickly " vanished " from my reel too lol so I got the viscious pro elite 2 day ago now and used it today it' handles really well to be honest low stretch and cast very well we will see how it goes de keep you posted Quote

Crookedneck Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 I used Vanish all last year and loved it. This year I bought the same thing, after 2 spools of it breaking like crazy, my 8 year old could break the 12 lbs by just pulling it. I decided to change up. I found a spool of 15# Seguar Invizx. I love it. It is extremely sensative and stands up to the rocks and zebra mussels very well. I fish almost exclusively in the rocks for smallies. I usually have to strip a few feet a couple times each time out. But that is a given in the rocks. I have been using this for 3 weeks now. I have noticed some memory setting in the last week. I haven't had a single break off, I am set up with a 7' MH with a burner baitcaster and have hauled 8 5lbs+ smallies out of 20-25 feet of water not to mention numerous smaller fish. Fishing a Texas rigged rodent on the bottom of the river. I am interested now in trying the Abrazx. But, why fix it if it isn't broke right? Quote
