Since ive started this thing ive caught 3 lm bass, 3 tilapia and 1 catfish. Ive been fishing like this for around 3 months. I have been in the water for a LONG time every week. Last week I went fishing 4 days for a total time of around 12 hours. This week I went to the lake 3 days for a total time of 8-10 hrs. So far im way behind my personal goal. My goal was to catch 100 bass before 2013. Right now i think i cant do it. I feel like Im not progressing and im actually studying like a madman. Ive read 2/3 of the InFisherman series, im reading #3 right now, ive been reading the forums, reading the articles and watching the videos from here and the ones by bassresource.

Lets talk about today: I stayed in the lake for a good 5 hours. I started fishing at around 8 am and I kept trying and trying and trying. I was close once cause as i was about the reel my spinner out of the water a bass went for it, it was too late cause i was about to pull it out and the bass left. I had another catfish follow my bait but it didnt bite. I dont know but even though i had these things happen to me i felt like i failed. I dont know i feel like i wasted the time, i tried to observe the little 2 inch bass in the water and what they did. I tried to learn from the experience, i got very relaxed at one point but it was frustrating that i couldnt get a fish.

Also if the hatch is at 2 inches when can you estimate the spawn was?

Important: I FISH FROM SHORE, i dont own a boat.

Lures i used:

spinnerbaits, baby bass crankbaits, 7 inch worm texas rigged, buzzbait.

It was tough, frustrating.... last two times ive been fishing i havent caught a thing. I havent caught a bass in 2 weeks.

I don't know the weather in PR but I imagine it is HOT right now. It's hard to go deep from the shore. I would look for where water moves into your lake, either from a stream or an underground spring. The water will be cooler here and more oxygen in it. What I've learned is that a lot of fishing advice that people give precludes finding fish. They've already found the fish. If you are fishing where there are no fish you won't catch any. Not sure what times you fish at, but I would find where that cooler moving water enters the lake and hit the area around there before the sun comes up. Go SLOW and size down. Fish as small as you can until you catch a few. Big or small, you need to find the fish before you can figure out the best way to catch the good ones. Hope this helps. Don't get discouraged! Positivity goes a long way :) I'd rather be outside getting skunked any day than inside watching TV ;)

Don't feel so down, fishing from shore is a tuff, tuff thing to do at times, the bite right now is very slow, if you could get a photo or name the lake and where it is located you are fishing, maybe we could try to give you some areas you can hopefully get to.

It happens.

Don't give up.

Weather may have played a part. Did a cold front pass your area the day before?

finding bass from the shore is tough, you can't go deep and this time of year that's where the fish are. if you wanna catch a catfish find where you think the water is flowing, like a channel and toss out any kind of bait like a small bait fish, bread, chewing gum, any kind of meat. the biggest catfish I've caught I was using leftover steak from dinner that was covered in garlic powder... I have no idea why I put that on it but it worked that one time that one night. and be patient this time of year is not good for the shore fisherman

Don't give up, that is why it is called "fishing" and not "catching". If it is hot, try to fish at dusk, (jitterbug and buzzbait). Also try to fish the **** crack of dawn.

Information overload. Buy a pack of Senkos. Go back to the lake with nothing else. Build from there.

It's called fishing, not catching.....Tomorrow is another day........there are plenty more fish out there to catch, just switch up your technique a bit , try new lures......you'll get em....Have a nice day!!!

It can be tuff fishing from shore and even worse if your on big water. My advice is look for targets to hit that look "fishy" and keep moving if you can. Just keep walking the bank making a dozen or so casts to spots you like then move some more and do it again. Somewhere right now a fish wants to bite the lure you have tied on but you need to find him. Keep moving and find the fish that want to bite.
