hendrix190 Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 there is a part on the crank side plate that looks like its press into the side plate. Its where the crank goes through the side plate. It is a cylinder with a bunch of small metal rods in it. I guess it works simialar to a ball bearing to help the crank spin with less resistance. I cant find what it is called. But im servicing my reel and i need to know if you lubercate that part with oil or grease. It looks like it had grease it in but i just wanna make sure before i grease it. Thanx Quote
Ima Bass Ninja Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Anti reverse bearing? http://www.bocabearings.com/bearing-applications/fishing-reel-bearings/one-way-anti-reverse I always use just a little oil. Like 1-2 drops Quote
Super User J Francho Posted June 13, 2012 Super User Posted June 13, 2012 You are safest to just leave it be. It's a one way roller bearing. If you think it needs juice, an oil soaked cotton swab dabbed on the rollers will be ok. Quote
hendrix190 Posted June 14, 2012 Author Posted June 14, 2012 thanx guys, thats what it is. And yea i just left it alone. Im gonna have to read up on them cause i dont see how that bearing keeps the anti reverse from slipping, lol Quote
BobP Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 There's a stainless steel sleeve that fits over the main shaft and sits in that one-way bearing when the reel is closed. The bearing allows the sleeve and everything on the main shaft to rotate in only one direction. The small rods insde the bearing spin one way but when reversed, they grip the sleeve to prevent any movement. I clean mine by running a cloth clockwise around insde the bearing, then putting a tiny drop of oil on each rod. Quote
