zachb34 Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 I cant get the curado 50e to cast 1/4 oz texas rigs with an ol'monster worm like the citica does I know the 50 sized reels have a lighter spool and are better suited for smaller baits but i like the weight and profile of the curado does anyone else not get the same casting distance withe the 50 sized spools. Super User tomustang Posted June 11, 2012 Super User Posted June 11, 2012 Besides checking the brakes, you should check the lube since they have a tendency to be overgreased/oiled or undergreased/oiled Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted June 11, 2012 Super User Posted June 11, 2012 What rods are both mounted on? What about line? Are the breaks and spool tension set the same? These are all important factors which need to be mentioned. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted June 11, 2012 Super User Posted June 11, 2012 One of my 51E's and my Citica 201E are mounted on the same spec rod (St Croix 7' MH/fast one on LT,one on an Avid) with 50lb braid on the Citica/Avid, and 30lb braid on the LT/51E...With the same bait, the Curado 51E/LT will out cast the Citica/Avid every time. Super User roadwarrior Posted June 11, 2012 Super User Posted June 11, 2012 My Curado 50E casts as far or further than any reel I own. The solution may be as simple as loosening the cast control. 1 Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 There is nothing in the design of the 50E that would limit casting compared to the Citica, if anything the opposite would be true. Check the details suggested above and if still having problems consider a deep cleaning and lube. Quote

Dude, casting distance doesn´t only reside in your reel, assuming the cast control isn´t too tight and/or you don´t have too many weights activated, line diameter and line type plus rod power weight heavily, a Curado 50 can cast 1/4 oz easily with the right line and right rod power, if you can´t cast a good distance 1/4 oz with that reel change for a lighter line and/or a lighter rod. OnthePotomac Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 I stick to 12lb flouro on my 50E and it does the job on light lures and really throws a Senko type worm extremely well.. Quote
