DeBassin619 Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 Hey all, I was wondering: what's the most durable craw plastic out there on the market? Anyone have any idea or other suggestions? Even though, both netbait's paca chunk (craw) and Rage tail's Craw have served me well, they aren't very durable. I'm just looking for another alternative craw plastic to try out. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 9, 2012 Global Moderator Posted June 9, 2012 Z man's are pretty tough but I've had a couple lose the pinchers on the first hookset also. They're probably about the toughest you can get though. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted June 9, 2012 Super User Posted June 9, 2012 z-mans seem to be very durable to me but aren't readily available to me all the time so i use the papa chunk a lot. the papa chunk seems to always lose a pincher or two every couple fish with can be discouraging because they are very productive but cheap. craww Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 Money craws hold up pretty well. As do manns hardnose and zmans. However more brittle trailers (pacas, chiggers, zoom chunks, rage, hand pours I make) seem to be more pliable, and have better slow speed actions. Quote
BamaBassChaser Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 I use Zoom speed craws as trailers on my swim jigs and they seem to hold up pretty well. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted June 10, 2012 Super User Posted June 10, 2012 Durability in soft plastics is over rated. I want baits that catch fish, Yeah, the SK 3x/Zman stuff works, and is durable, but I find other, less durable, stuff, like GYCB or Jackall, products, just flat out catch more fish. Heck, Zoom products catch the crap out of them too, and they are way more durable than Yamamoto or Jackall, and they are pretty cheap too. Quote
MichBassMan Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 The toughest most durable I've ever used is manufatured and sold by a small company called "cormorant lures" . They can be found on the internet and in a few bait shops in michigan and northern wisconsin. I use them if the bite is hot, otherwise I use netbait. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 11, 2012 Super User Posted June 11, 2012 Why would anyone care? I want great action, soft texture and scent. TI fish Rage Tail 90% of the time, but I still fish GYCB occasionally. As long as the fish are BIG, I couldn't care less if I lose a bait or not. It's all about "catchin'" not just fishin'. Quote
Bass Dude Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 I've seen this question a lot... My thinking when I use soft plastics is that I'm going to use baits up, period. Even the Elastech stuff gets beaten up after multiple fish. So, if you want to use plastics...expect to go through some baits and buy what you like and what catches fish. Buy some mend-it or a plastic "welding" tool if you want to make them last a couple more fish, but no matter what you do, you will go through baits. That's why all of us have pounds upon pounds of plastic baits!!!! Quote
