Yeah being a neighbor state I am aware of the no OC in a vehicle without a PA LTCF, its the dash or the passenger seat without a license to conceal here for us in DE.

Actually, unless something has changed in the past few years, the cost of an AL firearm permit was set by the County Sheriff and varied substantially from one county to the next...as did the restrictions. The last AL permit I had (2006) was from Jefferson Co, cost me a whopping $7.50, and had a big green block across the top with the word "unrestricted" in it.

My GA weapons license cost me about $80, but that's because we have to pay for the background check and fingerprinting.

Back to the question at hand - In GA you can carry openly with a GWL, but I never do. I don't want the people around me (good guys or bad guys) to know I'm carrying until it becomes necessary to let them in on the secret. My wife and parents know that I'm always carrying, but I don't even want my kids to know.

I think, in many cases, the people open carrying are just looking for attention...and that's just not my style. I'd much rather just blend in with the rest of the herd.

Here in TN it is a weapons carry permit. Ad while teqnically it is an open carry, almost everyone conceals it to cause less stink. It is just easier!

LA is open-carry, and your vehicle is considered to be an extension of your home, so you can carry in your vehicle as you see fit. CCW here is also really cheap and easy to obtain. I hope it stays that way.

thats cheap in New York we have to pay to get our prints and back ground check also but the prints are 120. Background is done by the sherrif no cost i think but one of my buddies trying to get his has to get a mental evail because hes in the army at least what he says anyways but its costing him 500 just for that so if i have to go threw that im looking at 5 bucks for the paper work 120 for prints even though the state has tons on file being a teacher and in the national guard then maybe 500 for that eval im 625 in the hole before I even get a gun and that's even if they decided to give you a permit. I have nothing to warrant being declined but some judges can just be picky i haven't heard many good things bout my county other then if ypu do get it its quick less then 3 months if all references return the calls or letters in a timely mater. I don't have my permit yet I started the paper work but got deployed before i could submit it and am waiting now. Once I get it its concealed carry here but where they like to get ya in New York is what You use it for If you get concealed carry and put u want it for self defense your set but I know of some guys that got screwed buy putting it they want it for hunting well now there not allowed to carry but to and from the woods or range so if your caught with it anywhere but hunting or sighting in your toast.

I switch back and forth between two different "primary" carry guns, and have a couple different holster options for each depending on the weather and what I'm wearing.

We have open carry here, but like others have said.....I prefer the element of surprise and the right to know when and when not to pull my weapon. I carry concealed most of the time and within 6 months of me having it my kids have completely forgotten about me carrying (ages 6&7). My wife carries about 50% of the time. She surprises me when she goes to get her gun.

Like others....I have different guns and holsters to make sure I stayed concealed.

I normally carry a SC XD9MM with Trijicons on it in a Crossbreed holster but my 4" 45XD fits the same holster.

I had a LCP in a crossbreed but I traded it for a Kayak.

The officer that taught my CCL told us it's not a bad thing to let it print. Let EVERYONE know you have it It may solve problems before they occur and it's legal to print.

I OC, only because it does not require any special licensing.... I also am not too keen on publishing my name and address in the paper for all to see. My EDC is a G17 tuned to the 9's so to speak, lol BTW I am much more versed in firearms and firearm related things than in fishing and fishing gear, hoping to change that here real soon!

I carry the Kel-Tec P-3AT (the gun the LCP was based on) in a little pocket holster. Most of the time you can't tell I have anything in my pocket, but when you can it looks like I'm carrying a phone in my pocket. Dosnt matter if I'm wearing jeans, khaki pants, shorts, or a Sunday suit, it dosn't print. I love it!

Let me clear this up, 90% of the time I don't carry. And if I do carry to Walmart, or on a bike ride ... I won't let it show. If I'm on my boat the rules change. I am a lot less likely to care if it prints once I have left the crowded boat ramp I don't care if you see my gun or not.

I am not trying to say I want anyone to see it because that makes everyone uncomfortable but I just don't care as I figure everyone has a gun in the boat.

Massachusetts is a study in oxymoronic regulations. There is no law against open carry here. However, if you are seen doing it, you have a good chance of being arrested for "public intimidation". Yep.....believe it or not.

Sorry, Glenn. None of those was intended to be aimed at LEOs in general, a leather-squeaker is a specific term for a particular type of police. I guess from the outside that might look different. Been in it too long, I guess.

I don't usually carry, but I carry concealed when I do. Here in NH, you can OC w/o a permit, loaded or unloaded, except in a vehicle. A concealed carry permit costs $10 here, and takes about 2 weeks to get after applying. Well worth it in my book.

But if we can get CC someday in IL I cant wait to buy a compact M&P 40.

As I've said previously I sold off all of my guns quite some time ago, mainly to help protect my children and give my wife and I some peace of mind over the issue. (I didn't have and could not afford a gun safe at the time), we had lost most all of the shooting ranges in my area, and at the one or two that were left police would spot check shooters to insure compliance with state laws on transporting firearms and issuing tickets for "improper storage during transport" (intimidating shooters).

Around here open pit sand & gravel mining is common and there were several that allowed shooting in the pits; but those days are over, Maryland made the land owner directly responsible for any accidents occurring on their land through court case rulings, so the pits closed to shooters. The only way we can fire our weapons that I know of at this time is to own a sizable piece of property or join a Sportsman's club for $$$$ a year.

My response to loosing my Constitutional Right at the time was to put it out of my mind, after all, there were few places to shoot and most were 45 Min to an hour away, the kids were getting older, and money to reload & shoot was scarce.

Bottom line, don't move to Maryland if you want to carry.

So if I were to get a weapon I would be limited to home protection I think, and if I did I was thinking about a Berette Cougar 8000 series but can't decide on a caliber. Suggestions??
