There are a lot of good reels in the same category. The Aggrest will handle what you want to do with it but there's nothing about it that makes it an exceptional "froggin" reel. IPT is in line with other high speed reels, drag is sufficient but there are stronger. It boils down to just how a good of a deal you can get.

i got a good price on them right when they came out so i bought two. they were okay but nuthin' special. i couldn't find a compelling reason to keep them so i returned one and sold one. probably not a bad buy at $100.

I have one and IMHO its not much better than the exceler. What got me is it doesn't have an aluminum side plate and the inards look very similar to the exceler. Save your money and get the exceler for under $80 as it performs darn close to the aggrest.

to late, just got it, i went to daiwa and it said it had alumminum side plates.

It isn't a bad reel, If you could have found a Team Diawa Advatage that would have been a deal. The Aggrest originally came out and was selling for $179,99, the problem is most manufacturers had better reels at that price range, but for the price you paid it is a good deal.

Here's the quote from Daiwa's site: Notice it only says aluminum frame.

Aggrest™ 7.3 Hyper Speed Features:

  • Hyper speed 7.3 to 1 gear ratio
  • Weighs just 7.6 ounces
  • Six ball bearing system, including two CRBB anti-corrosion bearings
  • Ultra-tough, helical cut phosphor bronze pinion and Dura Aluminum drive gear
  • Magforce®-Z anti-backlash system
  • High performance drag with precision click adjustment
  • Rigid aluminum frame <<<<<<<<
  • Swept Handle for less wobble, better feel and greater winding leverage

I paid just under $100 for mine, It fish's fine. But glad I didn't pay full price. It does outcast the exceler so I suspect it has better bearings. Overall I'm OK with it and you should be happy too.

I almost went with the Advantage, But the price was much more. The Tierra also seems like a good deal if you can do with the color blue and a bit more cash spent. Both have the stiffer aluminum side plate the Aggrest doesn't. Just FYI for others looking.

After handling a Zillion, I plan on getting one. Yes its more but dang they are so smooth!

oh frame, ohwell i needed another high speed reel and it was between this and the okuma komodo, i have never fished a daiwa, so tada, i fish hardcore from the shore, so i am sure it will hold up at least its 100 mark, thanks guys

The spool bearings where packed with grease. To get the extra casting distance flush them and use a good oil. Other than that its been a rocket for me.

That kamodo is a looker? :eyebrows: If I see one on sale, I just might!

yea on the komodo, i love okuma, and have been outbid on ebay by more than i can remember, i just dont wanna pay 200 for it, I could never be sponsored, i just like differant reels, idk
