..when trying to comprehend what this fool thought he was trying to do by squeezing in to the right side of my boat at an intersection. I was turning right, and had my signal on. Thanks for ruining a perfectly good day, moron.

He actually backed into the police cruiser when he left!

He said he was trying to squeeze in, and didn't see my turn signal. Yeah, those bright LEDs are hard to miss.

You don't see this every day!

that sucks John I hope you were heading back from the water not headed to the water it doesn't look to bad damage wise.

Looks like he missed the boat itself. From the photos it looks like no serious damage was done. Backing into the police cruiser was a nice second act. Sounds like his head was elsewhere, and it is pretty clear where, but since this is a family forum I won't say... Hopefully it won't take long for the repairs to be completed. Good luck.

Shouldn't be too bad to fix, but he did get the boat too:

So was this some elderly gent, or just your run of the mill mullett wearing Wal*Mart type patron?

Where's his picture?

After I verbally abused him, he hid in his car. He was a dippy guy in his late 50s, not elderly at all. He wore painters clothes, and was driving on a restricted license, which says "DUI" to me. He was "out there" and maybe huffed too many paint fumes.

That sucks J, any time frame on having her back? I hope it's not too much of a hassle with insurance.

His insurance took responsibility. I have been assigned a claim rep/adjuster to the claim, but haven't heard from them yet.

Wow...that really does suck, I would be worried about that axel- hopefully your adjuster just gets you a brand new one and not try and get it fixed- may be going through a new set of tires every month if that is the case! good luck with it all.

Get the boat repaired by a reputable repair shop and hold to the cost. Don't let the auto insurance company try to take depreciation off the payment.

Do not sign any releases until you have the boat and trailer repaired; the motor checked; and you take the boat out for a trial run to make sure all is OK and there are no leaks.

Make sure the trailer is not bent.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. On the good side you are OK and we learned your first name is John!

Thanks man, that's super generous, and something I'd like to do regardless of the boat situation.

Thanks to the rest for the well wishes. The claims adjustor has been really cooperative, though slow. I think that's more of a learning curve thing - they don't see very many boat collisions, and it's not like I need the boat to get to work.

Pirates, Indians, and Phillies are all closer than the Yankees. This guy was from the west coast, just sayin'. ;)
