So I'm looking for a new reel and I'm having a tough time deciding between the Revo STX ($140) and the Lews Tournament Pro ($160). I have a Revo S and and I like the reel a lot which makes me want to lean more towards the STX but the TP seems like a lot of reel for the price, I especially like how light it is. The STX seems like a great deal at $140 though. I'm looking at the 7.1 models to put on my worm/jig rod.

I have the step below in both lews and revo I have an sx and a speed spool tournamet and I can say I will be buying more lews I love it, it is so smooth and I herd the only difference ib the regular tournament and the tournament pro is just a couple pieces materials so I went with the regular tournament

I'm also looking at the Speed Spool Tournament for $110 and using the saved $ towards a new crankbait rod. Is the difference between the Tournament and Tournament Pro worth the $40?

The near 2oz weight savings is worth it imo but...

Comments: This is an excellent reel. All the features of the Tournament Pro for less money. In fact, I think this is a better looking reel than the Tournament Pro. It has a nice glossy black finish, acsented by the stainless steel and gold. In my opinion, Lew's should have made the Tournament Pro look like this one. As for weight, this one weighs more than the Tournament Pro. I'm not sure why, because the only major difference is the handle. Aluminium vs carbon fiber. But you can't really tell the weight difference, once it's on a rod and on the water. Both reels feel about the same. Casting and retreiving are smooth and silent. There is a mental smile in my mind every time I pick up this reel to use. It is wirth the price.

Yeah, that's what has me leaning towards the TP. I have a BPS PQ and a Revo S so I've never owned a really light reel before.

I had this same question last week. The STX was on sale, at Cabela's, but when I got there and actually held both, the Lew's Tournament Speed Spool was much lighter and I found it had a smoother retrieve. I bought the Lew's this morning. I haven't gotten to try it out yet but I'll let you know how it is as soon as I do.

I went with the regular Speed Spool Tournament for $118 shipped. Seemed like the best bang for the buck. I'll put the saved $ towards a Powell Diesel Crankbait rod to put my old Revo S on.

I have the Tournament speed spool and absolutely love it, have it paired up with a 7' MH Carbonlite...awesome combo. I might be weird but I also have a BPS Carbonlite(gold) combo and have found that I actually lose a bit of control with a feather weight reel which is why I did not opt to get the TP speed spool.

I tell you what, if you mounted it on a Carrot Stix or Boyd Duckett rod, it would probably lighter than some of the crankbaits I throw.
