What's up man. I can say last two days been pretty good but nothing of great size.

How long have you been in Jax? I just moved here in March.

Ive been here a lil over a yr but i was gone on deployment for six months so ive only been fishin freshwater around here since about february.

Thanks man. Good to see another local from Jax on this site that can offer some new spots to fish.

As far as the pond that you found and got kicked from as long as there's no "no trespassing signs" or "no fishing from people's backyard (says something to that effect)" then it is fair game. I got pulled over for the HID head lights I have on my car when I was coming back from fishing and the cop happened to fish as well so I was asking him some questions about the area and regulations.... and he didn't even give me a ticket or a written warning!

But the fishing has slowed up TBH the past 2 weeks or so. I use to catch a lot more in my pond and now it has slowed down significantly. Now I usually catch a majority of my fish between 4:30 and 8:30pm. I think you are right about them going deeper because I use to see them along the banks and caught them fairly close to shore. Now I don't see any and rarely see them chase the bait to shallow waters. That is why I fish closer to when it starts to get dark out because the temps cool down and I figure they come to shallower water to eat.

I am trying to find a new pond that has big fish in it but so far I haven't had much luck. I'll probably check out some ponds over by baymeadows this week.

Ive been trying from about 4 till dark in my ponds and still nothing... I'm baffled ..... everything that used to work doesnt now... i leave on wednesday and will be gone to monday but if you want when i get back i can show you a few ponds.... One of my favorites is on western lake road its a really big pond and has produced alot of fish for me until recently i went a few days ago any hooked one but my personal best was 14 catches out of about 20 i hooked in about 3 hr time and all around 2 lbs but that was when the water was real low and i didnt see alot of small fish but now i see alot of baby bass and bream so im guessin there isnt a shortage of food now... idk but i gotta figure something out.. ive talked to some ppl that said 10 and 12 lbers have been caught out of there and i believe it the pond has been there 20 or so yrs...

I never got a chance to go out this morning to the Citi Bank ponds. I had to go out and get more things to prepare for the baby plus it was raining out so I'll probably check out the ponds some time next week when it is nicer.

I was over by the Town Center yesterday I ate at that restaurant BJ the food was good. I took Gate Parkway towards 95 and I believe I saw the ponds that you are talking about. I am definitely going to go check them out one day when the weather clears up.

Yea there are alot of off Gate and JTB There is a good one behind black creek outfitters across from BJ's where you ate and i saw a guy catch an 8 out of there about 2 months ago and ive caught a few 4's.. there is a small wooden dock back there but you cant fish from it during BCO's working hrs because they use the pond to demo kayaks... Overall good place thought... Also there is a good looking one right by the town center called big island swamp you can clearly see it on google maps but unfortunately it has posted signs all around it.... but I talked to a guy that has lived here his whole life and he said the majority of these ponds have been here almost 20 yrs. The BCO pond is actually there because of a natural spring that feeds it... Anyways hope that helps yall out a lil if you come over this way!

Yea man I know the ponds that you are talking about. I am going to check out the pond by BCO one day this week.

By any chance do you know if there are any no fishing signs there? Because the cop told me if there are no signs then anywhere is fair game as long as you have a fishing license. I guess that's why try charge you $50 plus to have one (since I haven't been a resident of FL for 6 months I had to pay that it is probably cheaper if you are a resident of FL)

I am looking for a spot with some nice big fish at least 7# and up.

there are no fishing signs on one side of the pond but thats because an apt complex put the signs up for liability purposes im guessin, they say somethin about no fishing or feeding wildlife snakes gators... blah blah blah,,, but there is a turn right before bco and right after bonos bbq and i trail that everyone drives theyre vehicles back in on the back side and there are no signs on that side ! good luck... I've always had my best luck on plastic worms in there but that guy that caught the 8 was usin a white spinner bait!

All of this rain has been killing the fishing for me. I caught one around 7 right after that last tropical storm came through and really nothing since then. It probably doesn't help that I don't really have a way around and I have to fish the same pond all the time lol. Hopefully I can get something soon and try out some of these other ponds ya'll talk about.

Has anyone ever fished the pond beside Gander Mountain? It looks really nice with lots of pads but I've never fished it before. I also saw some really nice spots in the Argyle area the other day that I want to try.

I fished a couple spots in the Argyle area. I caught 4 of them out there between 2# and 4#. I saw 2 kids in a boat and one landed a 7# in the pond I was fishing.

I am going over by Gander Mountain on Wednesday so I will bring my stuff with me and check the pond out. I need to find a spot where they got some monsters in em.

I have a couple spots with some monsters in them on my side of town. 9+ lbers.

You wanna let me know where I can find some of those spots in here or a message? That'd be great I am looking for that one that I can put on my wall.

Yeah that pond at gander looks really nice. Never tried it, too far north for me.

All this rain today is gonna switch things up again. Ponds are so deep right now.

Hopefully this rain helps the fishing this time but I have a feeling it's gonna make it worse

Look up 30°22'33.18"N , 81°47'34.56"W with Google Earth. All of those ponds in that area hold huge fish, most of them are old farm ponds that have been around 20+ years. It gets a good amount of pressure though so fishing can be tough sometimes. I've caught some 8s out of there and have seen some 10+ caught.

Nice. They look like fun to fish small enough to work all angles. I doubt I will ever make it over there though. Just out of curiosity a fishing buddy of mine was wonder about that big cove near blanding and kingsley is that lakeside? You ever fish there? He was talking about slough park or something.

Doctors Lake? I've never fished it before but it's a pretty popular spot, I always see a lot of nice bass boats in their. There are lots of docks to fish around. Swimming Pen creek which runs into Doctors Lake and Black Creek just south of their are good spots also.

Man I need a boat lol

Yeah man I dunno about a boat, maybe a friend with a boat lol. Boats are too much work and money for me. But I would like on to do inshore and crabbing.

Congrats man, that's awesome!

I went out fishing in the rain and the fish were on. Jigs, cranks, worms, they were smashing everything. The pond is well over the banks though and it might flood.

Good to hear I was going to give it a go tomorrow rain or shine

I stayed out until it started raining so hard I could barely see lol. The fish were very very active and were literally right up on the edge, caught some in less than a foot of water. Make sure to look for any flowing water into the pond like drain pipes etc.. Caught a few hanging around those as well.

Good call Jax Basser!

Fished my usual spot at Publix, from 6 am to 7 am overcast with off and on light to moderate rain, got 3 strikes and misses, one break off, and landed this one, all on Junebug red flake 4.5" Rattlesnake near a culvert, a deeper flat in a cove next to main pond about 4-5 feet of water.

Nice, that's a fat fish!

I caught my biggest fish of the year so far right when the last tropical storm came through, it really gets them going. I can't wait to get off work and fish.
