Water dictates color for me so what works for me might not for you. I I have used every rage tail except the eliminator and Shad. They all produce fish for me. The space monkey is an excellent flipping bait. My favorite would have to be either the lizard or Hawg. I can't put down any of them though.

I rig them all Texas rigged with a 1/8Oz to 3/8 for deep water. the craws are insane as a trailer. The 10” Thumper is THE BOMB for fishing deep waters in summer.

Lately I've been C-rigging the Baby craws on a 1/0 EWG hook and doing well with them. They're surprsingly durable when fished that way for a relatively small bait. The bass eat them well and stay hooked. I'm starting to really like that bait.

I am late to the rage tail party, but I like the Toad, Shad, and grubs......the craws are not in my arsenal, nor will they be. I have had too much success and confidence in Paca craws to ever switch.

ever tried any of the rigged on a jig head/football head?

I have thrown the falcon lake craw on a jig head while bed fishing. Makes the claws stand up in the defensive position. Although i didnt do very well with it, i cant say if it was the craws fault. I threw everything at the few bedding bass i saw this year and couldnt hardly hookup with any of them.

Try a keel weighted hook or swimbait hook with a screw lock. Its called " the rage rig". It gives it a a different fall and allows the claws to flappy a bit differently than a traditional T rig. Glenn actually made a video of it. You can find it in the fishing videos section i believe.

I love Rage Tail Frogs. I just used craws, Rage Rigged, earlier today. They are awesome. Great action. They even smell good! Goin back out soon

I am giving the space monkey's a try tomorrow morning in a tournament. Have the black/blue T-rigged with a 1/4 oz weight on it. This is my first time to use the Rage baits.

Good Luck in the tournament kylek!! Space Monkey's are one of my biggest producers. They can be fished as a topwater bait on a 4/0 Screwlock hook, Rage Rigged on a 4/0 1/4 oz keel weighted screwlock hook. Bass kill it on the fall. Lately I've been using them on a 1/4 oz swim jig head and they hammer that as well.

Ill be trying them out tomorrow. Have some c rigged.some on a jig head.might rage rig one also. And going to use chunk as a swim jig trailer. Guess ill see what I like best.

I use the shad and it is one of my best topwater baits, outproducing a normal buzzbait in many waters. The chunk is my favorite jig trailer and I had one of my best years on jigs this spring. I also have the space monkey and they tear it up when pitched into cover and shade.

The only store locally that has RT's only carried the smokin rooster and the anaconda. I picked the smokin rooster (bama bug) because the video i seen of it was showing some serious action and vibration. I haven't had any bass hit it though, so at the moment I am sorta wishing that I had gotten the anaconda. I've texas-rigged w/ 1/8 oz, c-rigged, weightless, and a 1/16 keel weighted hook. But don't blame the product per se, I still have issues with most any lure unless it's worms or lizards. It's one of those things that I'm gonna have to keep trying. I just wish it wouldn't tear up so bad after a few times of putting on a hook and taking it off.

The best time I have found to use the smokin rooster is when the fish are in the summer pattern, not to say they have not worked during the spawn, just that most of my success has come during the summer pattern, rig it on a rage rig and make sure it stays on the bottom when fishing points and other structure.

The Anoconda, I love to use on a c-rig especially when fish are on the flats and cruising around about 2 feet off the bottom, for me that has been the best action so far, I have had success with them rage rigged in deeper waters, more than 15 feet, on various structure as well.

I still have a large stash of Paca Craws, but I don't think I have fished one in two or three years.

Just for fun, try two bags of Rage Craws, Baby Craws or Lobsters. Post a review comparing them

to the Paca Craws. If you still prefer the Net Baits, I'll send you a bunch for free.

What way do yall prefer to rig your rage frogs, craws, shad and space monkey? im new to these myself

Posted

I am fairly new to them myself and I have issues with the cast. For whatever reason I can't cast as far as other soft plastics. Probably an operator failure.

Anyhoo, from my research on this site and watching videos on YouTube, I would have to say that it would be unfair to limit yourself by just one or 2 ways of rigging any of those. Simply put, the design of almost all of the RT makes them extremely versatile and each of them could be used for c-rig, drop shot, t-rig, rage rig, shaky head, or any other way that suits your fancy. I would say that it's hard to fish them wrong, but I seem to be the one person that does. Haha.

If you want some ideas, check out Strike King's Rage Tail videos on YouTube or type in the search "ragetaillures". Very awesome vids.

thx logan. yea ive watched some of the vids. just was wandering if anyone was having more success rigging them one way or another.

ill prob just try them c rigged, weightless and on a jig head. but i like the action they have

Posted

Hehe. I've gotta stop responding to post that I have no experience in. I just thought that if you haven't seen the vids then maybe if you'd seen what type of action they have then you would have some ideas to try. Like the shad, for me that would either be c-rig or rage rig. But anyways.

Moaner Hooks has come out with the Stick'r Rig, a version of the Jika rig.

This is the perfect rig when the bite is on the bottom.
