Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted June 1, 2012 Super User Posted June 1, 2012 Well as I have just discovered apparently you are not supposed to apply isopropyl alcohol to large areas of skin. Which means I should probably stop using it as after shave on my head, arms, and face. I was using it cause the scent dissipates rapidly and it makes my skin feel really really soft. So I pose the question to you fellas and gals. What kinds of alcohol based after shaves are there that either have no scent or are VERY light scented? Also recommendations for a decent scent assuming there are no non scented after shaves would be appreciated as well. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted June 1, 2012 Super User Posted June 1, 2012 cant help ya man I don't use it or shaving cream for that mater even when I use a razor or straight blade on my sides. I love straight razors for doing skin fades especially here where its 120 and climbing every day nice and baby soft and cool but i just use warm water and go no cream no after shave. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted June 1, 2012 Super User Posted June 1, 2012 Alcohol will dry out your skin. Use a nice body lotion. I prefer non scented. Go to the make up counter in the mall, such as Clinique, and ask the ladies for a good lotion for men. They'll help ya out better than us scaley fisherman. You also might want to get soap designed just for the face. Dial makes a pretty good face soap. BTW, are you turning metro sexual on us? Quote

Super User Bassn Blvd Posted June 1, 2012 Super User Posted June 1, 2012 your the one suggesting cliniques in the mall.....just sayin' I knew someone was going to say that, HAHAHA. I just listen to the girls but have never bought anything from there. My wife buys the lotion. The years of sun exposure has ruined my once delicate, fine skin. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted June 1, 2012 Super User Posted June 1, 2012 haha as long as hes not asking about waxing and tanning I think were good lol I bet a pack of worms he waxes his chest, or atleast shaves it. HAHAHA Quote
Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted June 1, 2012 Author Super User Posted June 1, 2012 I bet a pack of worms he waxes his chest, or atleast shaves it. HAHAHA I waxed my head once in college. That was one of the worst most painful experiences ever. Plus I don't think there are enough razor blades in the state to get rid of the fur covering my back and chest. Homie I look like a freaking werewolf. Quote

choupique Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Witch hazel may be a choice there is some alchol in it however it is not overly drying. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted June 2, 2012 Super User Posted June 2, 2012 I use hot water as my aftershave, and I don't look a day over sixty-five. Quote
Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted June 2, 2012 Author Super User Posted June 2, 2012 Now witch hazel sounds promising. I've tried using hot water it didn't do me a bit of good. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted June 2, 2012 Super User Posted June 2, 2012 The way its supposed to be done is shave with warm water, opens the pores, and rinse afterwards with cold water, closes the pores. Quote
dave Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 I prefer the smell and STING of Aqua Velva. To me, it wasn't a good shave unless I feel the cool sting. Something is missing without it. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted June 2, 2012 Super User Posted June 2, 2012 I use hot water as my aftershave, and I don't look a day over sixty-five. Considering that you are only 35, I don't recommend hot water. Considering that I don't shave, save for my neckline, my recommendation isn't worth spit. Quote

Super User deaknh03 Posted June 2, 2012 Super User Posted June 2, 2012 I thought witch hazel was a generic plant extract, not a name brand It is a plant but perhaps there is a brand name also. The plant is where the astringent actually comes from. There was an old mill in my hometown that produced it years ago. Quote
