MichiganFishing1997 Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Alright, so im sure everyone has their lucky lure, the one lure you use when your at a new spot, don't know what to use, but you seem to catch a fish anywhere you go with this thing. Mine is my Bill Dance popper, blue top, yellow bottom, it rattles and all. Catch a fish where ever i go with it, but let me get to my point. While watching a fishing show with Bill Dance on it, i saw he was promoting the Yumbrella double up, with booya shaky heads and money minnows. I bought it out of curiosity and thought it might work, anyone else use any of these And by the way, whats your lucky lure? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 31, 2012 Global Moderator Posted May 31, 2012 I have several baits that are my "go-to" baits I can usually count on to catch a couple fish for me. I've got an Xcalibur Zell Pop and a couple XR50 rattlebaits with almost no paint left on them, same thing with a couple LC pointers and some squarebills. Quote
hatrix Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Hiddlestons, or swimbaits in general. You can fish them anywhere and they always seem to catch fish. I also saw that bill dance and was going to get one of those and a 3 arm one I think. There was another one called ATB or something that looked nice and it's adjustable. Quote
Super User Marty Posted June 1, 2012 Super User Posted June 1, 2012 Jitterbug is my confidence lure. but you seem to catch a fish anywhere you go with this thing. Am I the only one who doesn't have the good fortune to encounter catchable fish anywhere I go? Quote
MichiganFishing1997 Posted June 2, 2012 Author Posted June 2, 2012 I have multiple jitterbugs, just cant seem to get a fish on them.. Quote
WookieeJedi Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Senko, craw, or grub. One of those is bound to get bit. If I had to pick just one of those, it would be the senko. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted June 2, 2012 Super User Posted June 2, 2012 Spinnerbait is my favorite bait but a jerkbait is a close second. During the summer months I usually start out with a spinnerbait and go from there, if I'm finding fish feeding in the shallows either on flats or points I'll often use a floating style jerkbait. That bait is a confidence bait for me because few anglers throw jerkbaits bast the spring and you would not believe how you can catch fish on it. So I guess the floating jerkbait along with the spinnerbait is what I would consider my lucky lures because I normally can catch fish on one or the other. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted June 2, 2012 Super User Posted June 2, 2012 soft bait - double fluke rig with some mega strike smeared on her If im fishing the river I grew up on loaded with big mean smallies its a toss up between the flukes or a good ole mister twister if I ever had one specific lure i found "lucky" it would have to be a chrome Manns baby minus 1 I picked up at a yard sale I swear every time it touched the water I caught a fish with it I loved that thing then one day a northern pike took her from me and I haven't been able to find one like it sense. It was a short relationship me and that lure had but it was amazing I only had it for a week but it accounted for an easy 200 fish combined between lunch breaks at the pond at work and then the final weekend on the river. zip pow Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Rapala dt 10 in shad pattern i usually catch fish on it every time i go And i saw Bill using the double up rig also so i built one used it today and landed one on it. Quote
G.F. Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Oh man, when I was a kid, my silver Shad Rap was IT! Everywhere I went, I'd toss that one on and catch -- local CT lakes, and when visiting family in VA and Ohio too... My friends would be begging me for a shot with it! These days, I fish less, but have been having a lot of luck on shakey-head jigs and lipless cranks... Lures I caught nothing with as a kid... Those are definitely my go-to lures these days, with wacky senkos, DS, and a couple of cranks rounding out the "usual suspects"... Quote
Jake P Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 1/2oz rattle trap, super spot or Red eye shad. 3/8 oz white spinnerbait or shad color. 5" senko in a couple different colors. If i cant catch em on one of those then its a bad day. Quote
