I need some opinions on the best pair of glasses that I can buy for under $100.

I'm not particularly careful with my glasses and they don't usually end up lasting more than a year, so I'm reluctant to spend any more than that... maybe a little over if there's a big jump in quality. I just broke my Jersey Turnpike specials and need to pick up a new pair soon.

What say you?

..and Thanks!

I got some Strike King glasses for Christmas and they work pretty well.

They aren't the best, but for the money they're not bad.

3m makes some tinted safety glasses that will last forever and a day. Ain't but about 6 dollars a pair. ;)

The Berkley and Strike King glasses ain't half bad for the price. Under Armour and Nike both make some amazing glasses for under a hundred dollars. I've had and have 3 or 4 pairs of Nike's. If you can find them anymore Anarchy Eyewear makes some amazing glasses too. There is one other company I can't think of right now that made some of the most amazing glasses I have ever owned. They got stolen from my hotel room a few years back. If I can think of the name I'll post it for ya.

I forgot about them.

I have a pair of 3M safety glasses and they are awesome.

Don't know where you can get them for six bucks though.

I have a pair of the Berkley glasses and for the price you can't them. I also had a pair of the Strike King glasses that lasted me for about three years before the lenses started fading.

Offshore I use cocoons flip ups, have been very good.

Inshore it's also flip ups for 2 reasons, I fish before sunrise and once the sun is up I prefer not to tie knots with sunglasses on, I just flip them up for a minute.

Driving a car I wear regular prescription sunglasses, polarized makes the instrument panel hard to see.

I went from Anarchy Kronos to Calcutta Steelhead glasses. I had my Anarchy's for probably 5 or more years before I decided to replace them. I really like my Calcutta sunglasses. I believe they are all polarized and are of a pretty good quality. They are basically Costa copies. http://www.calcuttafishingstore.com/store/categories/sunglasses.htm

i like the sk plus glasses a lot. theyre comfortable, have great lenses, and are only 25 bux. get 2 pair and spend the rest on tackle lol

Thanks for the comments. I should have mentioned that polarized is a must... to see the fishies! I've seen those Berkley glasses ranging from about $7-20. I really want a pair of nice Oakleys, but can't justify the $180-200.

I have them too and agree they are pretty good for $25 bucks. I also have a pair of Columbia polarized(got them free from eyedoc don't judge me) they are retailing for twice as much and are half as good as the strike king.

Check out some big Dick's near you hehe.

Ironman Athlete shades. UVA/UVB protect, polarized, sporty style (matte black omfg!), hydrophobic lens, thick tough lens and frame. Anything built for those triathlons is beast.

Cheap polarize layering causes a fuzzy image especially when moving head side to side. These Ironman are on par with expensive shades. Don't believe me? Go find one that fits then bring it ti the locked Oakleys and compare.

I have last year's "Athlete Pol qts" and this years "Driven". A+++

Fyi not all Dicks carry these shades.

The wiley-X shades are pretty nice, the facial cavity is a nice feature when running down the lake. However, after buying EXPENSIVE costa 580G shades, i dont think i could ever go back. The only good thing about them being so expensive is it sort of forces you to be extra cautious and gentle with them, and therefore they last much longer

Checkout the Native line of Sunglasses.nativeeyewear.com

They are Polarized and have a lot of nice Features. Most models are around $100 even cheaper on ebay.

I just got the Endo Model off ebay with extra lenses for $60.

+1 on the Natives! I have a pair in Copper Reflex and they are wonderful glasses. I bought them for sports, but have used them fishing and the polarization is quite good for a $100 pair of glasses. As for sports glasses, they CANNOT be beat, IMO. Light, excellent hydrophillic rubber on the legs and nose and optically very high quality. If I'm not fishing, I have my Native's on 100% of the time -- better than Maui Jims or Oakleys from my perspective.

But THAT SAID, I have to admit that I'm now a convert on the Costa del Mars. Pricey, but SO worth it if you fish!!! I honestly didn't believe price made a difference and that an $80 pair was as good as a $200 pair, or MAYBE that there was a little "optical perfection" difference, but it wouldn't matter to the human eye. BOY was I wrong... putting on a pair of Costas is like seeing your lake for the very first time. They are absolutely amazing. I can see literally see things with them that I can't see with my other glasses.

If you go with the Costa 580g (glass) lenses, then they ARE quite pricey, but I tried a pair of my buddy's 580p (plastic composite) lenses and they were just as good (and lighter.) Plus they are about $75 less than the glass Costas. However, they don't come in the green mirror / copper base lens that I prefer.

I am a cheapskate at heart and tried 'em all on the low end, and they worked OK: Berkeley, Strike King, BPS brand, etc.. NOTHING wrong with them and they are MUCH better than nonpolarized glasses. But now that I've seen what the "real world" looks like through my Costas, I'd give up eating for a week to save up to buy another pair if I ever lost them.

Costa del Mars are great but very pricey but like others have said check out the Strike King or Berkley sunglasses. Both good glasses for the price.

Some of the Strike King Plus models are on sale on Amazon for $15 if you're looking to save a few bucks. If you can find something else to bring the total to $25+, they'll ship for free. I ordered a pair yesterday, and should have them in a few days.

NOCS by solar bat are pretty good but I am really liking my Eye Surrender sunglasses, polarized with TR-90 frames and $15 dollar lifetime replacement. I got sick when my Maui Jim glasses fell to the bottom of a lake and I said that was the last time I would buy sunglasses over a hundred dollars. I didn't think I was going to find nything good but I must admit, the optical quality along with the fit and finish of the Eye Surrender is great, I doubt you can find a better pair under 100 bucks.

Any good optician should be able to set you up. Pick out some frames you like and have them install some top of the line polycarbonate polarized lenses. Brand doesnt matter that much because there are only one or two companies that manufacture high quality polarized eye glass lenses.
