Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 1, 2014 Global Moderator Posted July 1, 2014 The cutters on my H20 aluminum pliers cut braid faster and cleaner than anything I've ever seen. http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/h2o-xpress-forza-7-5-aluminum-pliers/pid-599013?N=845454862 Quote
doublest Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 I bought a snip a couple of years ago, but a buddy has since showed me a cheaper alternative that works: a pair of 4" End Nipper Pliers from Harbor Freight: http://www.harborfreight.com/4-inch-end-nipper-pliers-39531.html Quote
sparky241 Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 i actually got a pair of disposible medical scissors from the dollar store that work very well. i also have a rapala clippers that will work as well Quote
RanndomUndead Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I had some Rapala braid sissors and they sucked. Im using 30# Fireline Fusion and that stuff is no joke. The sissors got "sprung" from the braid and would barley cut mono. The best thing Ive found, after using dozens of cutting devices, is that tiny pair of sissors on my swiss army knife. They are super sharp and have been that way since I was like 8 (29 now) !!! Plus I always have the other tools in it handy like screwdrivers and what not. Funny how pre 2k tech was generally made to last...but anything modern is made to break...Gotta love the "business" model in this country 1 Quote
Ozark_Basser Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I just use a pair of scissors. Those ceramic scissors would be nice though. Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted March 20, 2015 Super User Posted March 20, 2015 Ceramic scissors. 1 Quote
Big C Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Mini Bic lighter. Super easy to carry. And if you ever end up in a survival situation you can always switch lures. 2 Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 20, 2015 Super User Posted March 20, 2015 Planned obsolescence is not a new concept. Had a friend years ago working for BF. Goodrich, telling me they had tires that could last 200,000 miles, but we would be selling less new ones. Quote
bigturtle Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I use a pair of $1.60 Mustad braid scissors with serrated edge. Cuts 80lb braid without having to applying tension to the line Quote
Patrick Morrow Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I use these: http://www.amazon.com/Mustad-Multi-purpose-Cutter-Splitring-Pliers/dp/B003FNQ28I Great all around tool. Must for a angler. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted March 20, 2015 Super User Posted March 20, 2015 Cheap Walmart kids scissors. They last about a year, then I get a new pair. Quote
bass raider Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I use my pocket knife& a lighter. l use the lighter on the tag end of my line after I tie the knot so the tag end doesn't fray all the way down to the knot. Quote
RanndomUndead Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Exactly. One of my buddies always kids me because when he asks for a knife I say "what kind?". I'm usually carrying a leatherman, full sized folder, neck knife, and boot knife. During hunting season I also carry a big fixed blade in a calf sheath just in case. Takes maybe 2 seconds to pull out a knife and snip the line, then I usually pull out a lighter and burn the tag end unless its really windy. Nothing quite like perfecting a rig with beautiful knots, then having it end up on the floor because of wind and a lighter Quote
