Well........ It Finally Happened!

Vanish floro jumped up and bit me in the arse! I've been defending this line every time the argument has come up here. Last two outings I've broken off 4 fish with 14 lb test, not a happy boy! Could have taken a check but no. It's time to move on and find another solution. Possibly a bad spool but I can't take the chance anymore! I cannot in good concience, recommend this line now the I have experienced the "vanish" syndrome!

my advice, go with sunline. youll get a ton of people on here sayin seaguar but ive had so many break offs on hooksets with that stuff its ridiculous. sunline sniper is by far the best fluoro ive ever used. i think youll love it if you try it.

I hear a lot fellow fisherman with the same complaint. However, I've been using it for almost 10 years now in various tests with no problems. Go figure!?

i use 7 lbs sunline for spinning and 12-16 lbs sunline sniper or shooter

never had a problem with breakoffs. try buy 200 yard spool of sunline and use it and see what happens

Vanish has zero knot strength and abrasion resistance. Pure garbage. Go with P - Line 100% fluoro.

i totally agree with you guys on this. Sunline is one of the best choices out there. Seaguar is pretty good also. However, I love the benefits afforded by sunline aka line managebility, smooth line lay, line diameter. It's an awesome choice and very hard to beat it especially when you get it for a discount.

I've never used the red box, only invizex, never had a problem with it works extremely well with KVD line and lure. I like seaguar, but I've been wanting to try the Sunline regular 100% floro.

I use Seaguar now...but in all the fluro's I have used I have had breakoffs- I love the feel the line gives you but as far as "abraision resitance" I have not really found anything I really am in love with. I like rocks, but rocks do not like fluro-I need a kitchen timer for my next gear purchase because I have a bad habit of "one more cast" before I retie and it always bite me back.

Jon, have you ever tried Seaguar Invizx? I love it. Super limp and manageable and never had any issues with it breaking off.

Ive never used Vanish,I do use Vicious that I got on Clearance at Wal Mart,wondering if some might get the 2 names mixed up as they sound so much alike. Maybe it was the Vanish that was supposed to be on clearance.

Red Box Seguar Ill never buy again either

Interestingly, i did a study in my Physics class and i came to the same conclusion. I actually had multiple trials in which 20 lb red label broke with only 15 lbs hanging from it, while all of the other 20 lb lines were completely fine.

I have tried Seaguar and Vanish. They are both junk. Had multiple break offs with Vanish, both while fighting the fish AND setting the hook. My Seaguar Red label didnt even make it to the water because the line snapped at home (15# test broke at 5#'s) while setting the drag. Im switching from flouro to Yo Zuri Hybrid.

yea, i started with vicious, went to seagur and now on some other kind, though the are for spinning, now on my pitchin rod, 20 lb sunline, i would put money on that line

I'm kind of surprised no one has mentioned Gamma, I love their Edge fluorocarbon and personally have never had a problem with it breaking. Good luck trying to find a new line!

I know I have said this before. Working at BPS, I have seen that every line on our wall is hated by someone. Like they say, ya cant please none of the people none of the time.

I can tell you from watching some of the guys I have fished with, a lot of issues blamed on line is user error. Ya GOTTA retie at least once a month for petes sake!!!

Very true!!! The other thing we all need to remember is where you purchased the line, I will never buy line from Wally world or any other dept store as a lot of these places do "buy outs" of warehouses and you never know how long the line has been sitting and under what conditions. I believe that is why you see 2 or 3 different anglers using the same line all have different experiences. I know a lot keep saying Sun Line well I hate the stuff, I tried the Super Natural and I could not get a knot tied that didn't slip, I used a Palomar, improved clinch, trilene, and the best of the bunch was the san diego jam but you had to leave a few inches of tag end because even that knot was slipping so I avoid Sun Line. As far as Braid goes it was power pro until I tried Tuf Line on a recommendation and it seems to be exactly like power pro so that is what I use now.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I think I'm going to give the Sunline a try. I like to think I'm diligent in checking my knots and line, retying frequently and might just move up in line strength as well as new brand!
