I am looking for a rod to do mostly pitching with. Mostly lighter stuff like 3/4 to1/2oz and down. I like what Ive heard on the 735c and the 765 flip so Ive kinda narrowed it down to these rods. I know a lot say the 735c has softer tip but i like a rod with a lil give as long as it has good back bone. But at same time hate to get something too soft so that's why i was also looking at 765. Anyone that own these rods care to comment on what you like or dont like about them?

If you've got the cash to spend, the DX 745 is an unreal pitching rod. If not, either of the two you listed will work fine. I kind of prefer the 7'3" rods from Dobyns though. If you're going to be pitching into heavier areas, you may want to check out the 736 also. Spend some time browsing through the TackleTour forums. Specifically look at the posts made by Civicrr. Dude has fished pretty much all of the Dobyns sticks and has provided some excellent feedback and comparisons on most of the rods.

The Champion 765 flip has the stripper guide well up the blank to facilitate the flippin technique. Just wated you to be aware of that. The 735C is one of the best jig rods ever. It has power and tip. Check out the youtube video, flippin big bass on the border with Justin Rackley and Tom Reddington. Reddington is using the 736 and Rackley the 735. A video is worth a thousand words. If you like tip and length, the Champion 765 flip has it. That was my first Dobyns rod. The 765 is absolutely neutral in the hand, not tip heavy and light for a 7-6 rod. SFBA mentioned the Extreme 745. I also have that model. What a great rod, but the Champion will save you some bucks and perform almost equally as well. Hope this helps.
