Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum so I'm sorry if I break any etiquette with my first post here.

I recently got a few gift cards from Cabela's, so I'm looking to buy a new reel sometime in the next week. I'm looking for something with a higher gear ratio, as I will most likely use this rod for frogging and may double it up with pitching and flipping depending on how I feel with it. So far I've narrowed it down to a couple reels: the Shimano Citica (new model), the Quantum Kinetic PT, the Abu Garcia Revo SX, and possibly the Revo STX. I'm not really sure what the differences in the Revo's are but they both offer the speed I want and are also on sale.

Any experiences you guys have with any of these reels I would like to hear about if it's not too much trouble. Also if you guys know of other reels in this $100-200 price range that I missed feel free to share them. I know the Shimano Curado is a popular choice among the bass fishing world, but I already have one and I'm not interested in getting another one. I appreciate your help.

Don't know anything about the Quantum, but I'd for sure get the STX over the SX. The dual braking on the STX is far more adjustable and does a much better job of controlling the reel under differing conditions and baits.

Welcome to the forum !!! Reels are truly a personal preference and you can expect a broad set of opinions. That's not a bad thing. There are so many good options out there and lot's of members are happy with what they use. I read what you are looking for. I would at least suggest you research the Lews Tournament Pro, the Tournament series and the MG series. I think you will like what you see. Good Luck.

I personally have both the Revo Sx and Citica love em both and cant think of a bad thing about either other then I don't have more of them but that doesn't concern the reels themselves lol. My experiences with Quantiums have been well not so good I let my 3 year play with them now they don't belong in with my fishing gear.

I think there are more than a couple makers that offer great reals,so be sure to check em out and compare, but like the sx and stx, most manufacturers make reels with one or both Magnetic and centrifugal cast control, I will always choose the ones with centrifugal and both if I have that option. The magnetic is nice but the centrifugal is gives more control.

I have used them all and own 1, and here is what I can tell you. The Citica and Kinetic offer pretty much the same performance, I purchaed the Kinetic over the Citica when both reels were $119.99, the only reason I did was the Quantum has a handle side aluminum side plate while the Citica has both side plates made of graphite. Out of all the Reels you mentioned, you should get the Revo STX, it is the most refined and better of all the reels you are looking at. When it comes to casting reels you pretty much get what you pay for.

Citica is choise of what you listed. Very good reel, easy to dial in. For another reel option, at $200 is the Chronarch E series. Stay away from the Curado G series.

Ended up going with the Lew's Tournament Speed Spool. It was much lighter than the Revo's and it felt much smoother than the Citica and Kinetic. Also, the guy working at Cabela's said the Lew's are his favorite and they cast miles. I'm excited to try it out. It looks like rain all week so maybe I'll be able to give it a run next weekend.

I don't have the tournement model, I have the regular speed spool and I love it. I think you made a good choice.

I know you've already decided, but in the future don't overlook okuma. Lew's and okuma both make a great quality reels and offer an amazing product for the money. The bps pro-qualifier is also a good bang for the buck reel.
