Caught this bass today, and the eyes seem to "bulge" out a lot more than the other much smaller bass. Is this normal with a big bass, or something wrong with her eyes?post-36381-0-49813100-1337990631_thumb.j

It's normal for older bass. You ever see the ones at bps those things look like their eyes would pop out if you thumped em on head :D

Probably impossible to tell cause they grow different rates in different places but at 26.5 " I would guess 8-10 years

Gotta be bigger than 6.8 at 26.5". That is unless she was super skinny.

You can pull a scale and count rings to get an idea. I caught a 12 this year that seemed to be 5-7 years old, but this is from a freak pond. I pulled a scale from a 7 that looked to be over ten years. Its really dependant. But with those big ol eyes I would guess shes alot older than 6 or 7

I read some about and need to read up on more on the scale technique. That does seem to be the most accurate. Next time I catch a big one I need to do that. Thanks! Joe
