Eric Buck Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Just on here looking for comments in reference to fishing on Fort Stewart. Trying to figure out everyones favorite ponds and/or baits to use. There are multiple double digit bass pulled out of these waters, and I am curious to hear some stories on how and where they did it. Also they have started fishing tournaments and I was wandering how those were going and what seemed to be working during those. Thanks for any and all input. Quote
Fishing Cowgirl Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 I'll ask my step son. He's stationed there. Quote
Eric Buck Posted May 26, 2012 Author Posted May 26, 2012 Wow nobody fishes on Fort Stewart on here? Quote
joedoozer Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 I hope this thread hasn't dried up. I use to live in Hinesville and fished Stewart regularly a few years ago. Pond 1 (Pineview) is probably the best pond to fish. It is open often and its big. Metz is also an awesome pond but it almost never open. And it requires you to manually sign in at Pass and Permit. Which for someone living in Glennville is a total pain in the butt. I enjoyed fishing Stewart and have caught many good size bass. My biggest being over 8 lbs at Pond 1. But when they raised the on post fishing license to $40, I stopped fishing it. I had more fun going to the beach and shark fishing. And that didn't cost me anything extra. Now that I live in Glennville and don't get to the beach as much. I would like to start fishing Stewart again. Since I am so close to Pond 1, the $40 fee doesn't seem as bad as before. Quote
Mark Narcarti Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 PineView lake is no longer a fishing area, instead our GREAT military has turned it into a GATOR HOLE for hunting Gators, just so the WANNA BE MACHO hunter can hunt GATORS, in a pond where the GATOR cannot escape, just like the bullfighting in a bullpen, YEAH REAL SPORTSMAN, SMH, Don't waste your TIME and your MONEY at Ft. Stewart or should I say Ft. STUPID, there are better fishing spots in the area and cost less to fish and bigger BASS. Still it's SAD to see such a beautiful lake RUINED for all the people who have fished their over the years, just so THEY CAN KILL GATORS. Should be made illegal, to KILL GATORS in a pond, should only be allowed in river swamps where the GATOR has a fair chance of escaping. Quote
