This was suggested in the other thread where we have been posting pics of rods and reels so I thought I'd start it out. Maybe it'll get 200+ posts like the last one did. Here's some of my stuff...

Roostertails!!! Believe it or not these are not just for crappie. These catch lots of bass for me. Granted, none too big, but some decent ones and some keepers too.

Some crankbaits

004.jpg

Buzzbaits, chatterbaits, and jigs

005.jpg

All Bandit crankbaits, still building this box, these are one of my favorites

006.jpg

A mix of jerkbaits, topwaters, and a couple of Magic Swimmer swimbaits

007.jpg

A box especially for spinnerbaits only

009.jpg

I didn't bother to lay out the 20+ bags of plastics I have here, or the hooks, sinkers, and other various things. Also I have another box of just inline spinners as well, Blue Fox Vibrax spinners, but I mostly use them for fishing the river here so I didn't lay them out, every single one is the same color, chrome with white tail. After Christmas I'll have a bit more to add to this. Mostly Rapala and Excalibur hardbaits. Maybe I'll update the pics then.

Sure seems like I used to have more stuff than this. :-/ I've given a lot away, guess I gave more away than I thought?? :-?

If you see anything good here that I ought to be using a lot, let me know.   If you see anything MISSING that I ought to have, let me know please.   ;)

nice stuff rooster! i'll post mine later... gotta get the battery in my camera charged up..

You probably already use it alot, but that Rainbow Trout X-rap in your jerkbait box has caught me alot of fish and is one of my favorite jerkbaits..

As for missing, maybe a couple frogs (SPRO or R2S) and maybe a Lucky Craft sammy or  some Poppers.. if you are a big fan of Rapala's like it looks like you are, they make awesome Poppers...  also my absolute favorite popper lure is a cheap Matzuo one

It doesn't look like you use any of these lures. They all look brand-new!Take them out swimming once in a while and get them banged up a little, couple of teeth marks, etc.

Speaking of Roostertails top to bottom:

3/8 oz chartreuse caught about 25 bass retired

3/8 oz firetiger took out of the packaging, bent the eye and blade the way I usually do on these, and on the third cast caught the bass in my avatar 7lb 12oz just pure luck. It's caught a few more small ones since then.

1/4 oz white this one caught a 20lb channel cat just pure luck. Caught a few small bass since then

That's why I love Rooster Tails. You can always catch fish on them. Maybe not necessarily the fish you are after, but fish none the less.

If you really love Rapala lures, you must absolutely must buy a skitter walk. THE best top water lure on the market in my opinion. Buy one or two or ten, you won't be disappointed. Anyway, my go to bait is a Wave Worm Tiki Stick. Rig it weightless and throw it right on top of the structure you want to fish. I use a size 2/0 hook.

Nice stuff Rooster, but I'm seeing some empty spaces in those Plano boxes.  ;)

I have several Rooster Tails, but the only thing I've ever caught on them is weeds. They're like miniature rakes or tiny little Garden Weasels, yanking out every plant in the lake.

Nice wall Basspack, but are those rods in the background LEANING AGAINST THE WALL?

If so, then get yourself a rod rack and  STOP LEANING THEM AGAINST THE WALL!!!!

That's awesome. I really like that system. How much does one of those boards cost you?

Not a lot of tackle storage in his new "house" ;D

that made me lol.

i agree with hammer , my gear is only a fraction of what some of you guys have.

i have my rods against the wall. ive been meaning to put together a rack for them but ive been procrastinating. will the rods warp or something?

They say they'll warp or twist but I've never had one do this yet in 14 years of wall leaning.  However I'm gonna build a rod rack just for display purposes anyway.

What's up with the jail cell pic??  Did somebody go to the bighouse that I don't know about?? :-?

Great pic Stasher1, that gave me a good laugh.

As for the actual question at hand.

For my gear I use all left hand retrieve Abu Garcia Revo-S baitcasters lined with Berkley Fireline Crystal Braid in 14 and 20 lb. All my rods are St. Croix Mojo Bass rods. The Mojo Bass series rods are technique specific.

As for tackle I really don't have as much as I used to have. I just down sized to just my most productive baits. I used to think I needed everything under the sun but my mindset changed at some point this year. (Probably after my second tourney this year)and now carry a ton less tackle.

I have 6 different types and sizes of plastic worms, 2 packs of mann's hardnose frogs, a dozen jigs, 6 spinner baits, 6 buzz baits, 6 crank baits, some beavers, 2 chatter baits, some paca craw trailers, and some smelly jelly scent. I try to keep it simple and I do just fine.

Scratch the 1/4oz white Roostertail in the photo - was fishing it slow and deep today and got hung-up and couldn't get it free - had to break off ... :'(
