dcorp Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 They told me mid to late September when I called them this afternoon. And the guy I talked to said the exterior finish was the same. The finish was the same as what? the gen 2's? Quote
jeb2 Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 The finish was the same as what? the gen 2's? Sorry, yes, same as the current models. I was asking specifically about the Premier. Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Strange. My buddy is the tackle buyer for a local outlet and I asked him about the recent price drop. He states Abu is doing a " cosmetic " change to the Revos but even he has yet to see a photo released. He bought every SX and STX high speed he could get his hands on. He hopes to have an instore show promo for the STX for 134.99. They have been selling Premeiers for 209.99 as regular price for two years. It's getting interesting. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted June 2, 2012 Super User Posted June 2, 2012 See my dilemma now is do i hold off and buy the new gen 3's when they come out or do I buy up all these gen 2's for cheap. I have the black and red SX and love it I could go for a bunch more but these new ones hmmmmmm maybe get a few of each? If i got the old models it would give me a reason a few moths after release to bug the wife I need the newer ones decisions decisions...... Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted June 2, 2012 Super User Posted June 2, 2012 Looks all the same to me. I think Im still just going to keep the "S"himano on my chest. No new "S" model Revo either...........IMHO that was the best one. Oh well, not like I am going to buy any. They have a big problem as far as I am concerned......They are not a Shimano. Quote
jj'sbassinforfun Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Yeah, I'm gonna run right out to buy an "S" reel. The ones that are actually a down grade but called an upgrade and charging more ta boot. Sounds like a bargin to me! From what I see Abu has at least tried to advance the line up, Not taken a step back! 2 Quote
bassinCPA Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 The new Gen 3 Revo's are expected to ship September 1, 2012. This is listed in the description for each reel. By the the time THUT ships, I bet all retailers will have them. Quote
Quillback Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 They told me mid to late September when I called them this afternoon. And the guy I talked to said the exterior finish was the same. Surprised to hear they haven't figured out a way to give it a more durable exterior finish. It doesn't effect functionality, but I could see where they might lose some potential sales because of it. If that is actually the case, they are apprently not listening really closely to what their customers are saying. Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted June 2, 2012 Super User Posted June 2, 2012 if you want a durable finish buy a pflueger patriarch.the titanium deposition is almost impossible to damage. Quote
jeb2 Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 You're right, except they don't make the Premier eqivalent in that reel anymore, the XTLP. Pflueger/Pure Fishing discontinued it a year or so back. Quote
bman310 Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 From Hooked up tackle's site, Abu Garcia - Gen 3 Revo STX Abu Garcia's new Generation 3 Revo STX is 30% lighter than the previous model, making it the lightest reel in it's class. The new Gen 3 Revo STX has been completely re-designed, and is made of a carbon frame, features new EVA knobs, a Carbon Matrix drag system, 10 stainless steel HPCR bearings plus 1 roller bearing, an infiniti brake system and 20lbs of drag. There is also a new 8.0:1 gear ratio model. The new Gen 3 Revo's are expected to ship September 1, 2012. Quote
21farms Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 by my calculations (assuming the size of the spools remain the same), the IPT of the 8.0:1 STX will be 34" per turn of the handle. Quote
Revozoomevinrude Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 I thought the revos were fine the way they are. Companies always have to try and improve. Just like shimano when they went to the new style of curado and quit making a bulletproof reel that would last. The new ones are terrible compared the old style. I sold all my shimanos last year and switched to stx revos and couldnt be happier. Hope they dont change anything! Quote
quanjig Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Shimano lost me when they discontinued the 200B. Picked up a scorpion and it's nice, hope it holds up. I have too many friends that have had serious problems with the "E" line up. I'll stick with the 2nd gen revo SX! THAT is a sweet reel and with the price reduction, it's a no brainer!! Quote
jj'sbassinforfun Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 More info is now up on Abu's site. http://www.abugarcia.com/revo Quote
ChrisAW Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 More info is now up on Abu's site. http://www.abugarcia.com/revo If you look closer in the video, it looks like the Vendetta's are getting a bit of an update as well? Quote

Super User clayton86 Posted June 12, 2012 Super User Posted June 12, 2012 yup I just got the email from abu and am all ready entered in the give away for it it was a nice surprise i left for the gym with no new emails and came back to the new revo line up in my email Quote
Pantera61 Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 I just received a new 2013 Premier and STX to field test. Can't wait for this weekend ... Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted June 12, 2012 Super User Posted June 12, 2012 The word on the street is that the new Revo is going to the same brake system as the MGX. I'm leery of that alone. I wish they would have changed the spool bearing assembly, but it's minor overall. The new reels aren't likely to be released until Mid-September from all reports we've had at this point. Lastly, They're not changing the finish from what we're told. I have a couple Winches and I love them, but for the weight. Quote
BamaBoy5 Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 TW has them on their website and it says stock 6/22 Quote
jj'sbassinforfun Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Good to hear they will be available before September. Just in time for my sons BD. Seems the gen2's have just about disapeared from most sites! Quote
