Everyone,

Looking at buying a new setup to focus on chatter-baits, spinner-baits and topwater action (Mainly buzz-baits and Pop-Rs)

From reading St-Croix website the MBC70MHF Spinnerbait 7' MH Fast, looks to be my best bet, however any other recommendations in the same price range?

Going with a Shimano Chronarch 200E Series Casting Reel 6.5:1 and a MBC70MHF Spinnerbait 7' MH Fast, what you think?

Great reel, I prefer the 7.0:1 for those techniques, thats just me though and the rod will be just fine. Enjoy!

just take into mind that St. Croix rods are generally stiffer than most other manufacturers. A MH will act more like a H, I have a 7' LTB "Teaser" and it double not only for what it was built for, finesse tactics, but also as a lighter jig and worm rod.

I find if you're spinnerbaiting in any sort of cover, I really like the MH/F from St.Croix. However for open water its a little stiff.

my spinnerbait rod if the 7MHF avid and it works just fine IMO.

Welcome! I'm in Eastern PA. My Cumara 7' MHF has doubled as a spinnerbait rod just fine. DVT can build you a very nice rod. Support our sponsers. :)

I may be wrong but to my knowledge there is no 7MHF Cumara, their is a 7MHMF Cumara Reaction model.

Abu veritas the the microguides is a steal for the money. If weight is an issue the Crucial is a great rod I like it more than my St. croix rage and honestly the BPS carbonlite is a really nice rod for 79 bucks right now. I have a couple of them and they feel alot like the Crucials. The Veritas is a little heavier but still a great rod and would be perfect for fishing with reaction lures as you don't need a super sensitive rod and 100 bucks for a rod with SIC guides c'mon

I think your selection of rod/reel is ok, but I think a lighter action rod would be better for Pop Rs and the like.
