BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted May 20, 2012 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted May 20, 2012 I don't know what it is, but, here's what I do know. It's 3:18 am Sunday morning. I can't sleep any longer. I have showered, shaved, made coffee, got dressed and now I'm on here killing time because the sun does not come up for 3 hours. I hope this feeling never goes away. I'm going to retie all my rods. Later Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted May 20, 2012 Super User Posted May 20, 2012 In your memory, this day will live as long as you do. I to have been up since 3.00 am. I love the morning. You sir, have a great day, and store up a lot of great memories Hootie Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted May 20, 2012 Super User Posted May 20, 2012 Just hit the water for an earlier bite that's what I do when I get like that. If I have a special day of fishing planned and cant get my eyes shut I just go fishing sooner I have plenty of spots to hit locally if I have to wait for some one else I did this when J Francho took me fishing the first time he wasn't meeting me at the lake till 7am I was out on the water by 330am in the rain with a buzz bait catching a few well waiting hitting every hole and creek on my way to the ramp. Super User Marty Posted May 20, 2012 Super User Posted May 20, 2012 "The Best Thing About Bass Fishing?" At the risk of sounding like a smart aleck, it's catching bass. Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted May 20, 2012 Super User Posted May 20, 2012 I have been fishing a lot the last couple of months, and I still wake up hours before it is time to go most of the time. I laughed at, "I'm going to re-tie all my rods". Sometimes I will change my mind about the starting rotation and re-tie some more than once. If that sense of anticipation and promise is not the best part of bass fishing, it certainly is an important part. I also hope I never lose that sense of excitement at what the day has in store. bassmaster3541 Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Every night before a tournament I get the feeling I did as a little kid the night before Christmas, I just do not want to sleep and am just dying for it to be the morning, and the last hour before I need to get up I wake up every 10-15 minutes hoping it is time to go Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted May 21, 2012 Super User Posted May 21, 2012 Why I like bass fishing Seldom get skunked Light tackle Not much strain on my body Most relaxing kind of fishing I do, I don't keep it intense I like setting the hook, something I don't do much of in saltwater Quote
North Ga Hillbilly Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 You can bass fish most everywhere. Any puddle of water here in GA will have a few bass. You can go to any state in the continental US and catch bass. You can also take that knowledge and catch bass all over the world, I love looking at the International forum and seeing what guys are doing over seas. I think soccer better watch out as the international sport. NGaHB Quote
Super User islandbass Posted May 21, 2012 Super User Posted May 21, 2012 I can definitely relate to that!!!! The best thing about bass fishing is sharing that joy and passion we have with others. It's as rewarding and on par if not more that catching bass or any other species, at least until I have the state or world record on, lol. Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted May 21, 2012 Super User Posted May 21, 2012 Even after 40+ years, I still get this way as well, especially after a long dry spell of not being able to get out there on the water. it's been over a year now since I have visited my favorite lake to go fishing, or fish anywhere at all actually, I have made plans to take my youngest daughter to a Friday night tournament on June 1st, 3 weeks ago, I am up hours before I need to be looking at maps, making sure all of our gear is ready. I guess the best thing about bass fishing is the anticipation of what the day will hold, it's reaching down, turning the key to fire the engine, it's looking in your childrens eyes and seeing they feel the same way you do just before you throttle up and head for your first spot. Nothing in my mind comes as close to being more stressed and yet more relaxing than bass fishing. Quote
grampa1114 Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Someone gave me a fishing rod a long time ago...then I caught a few fish...then I bought some lures...then I caught a few more fish...then I bought a boat...then I caught some more fish...then I bought some more rods...then I bought a bigger boat...more fish...more lures...more boats...fish...lures...boats............I can stop any time I want to. Ramz Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Fishing early in the morning reminds me up fishing with my dad when I was a kid. Waking up and eating some PB & J sandwiches before hitting the water & being mezmorized by the fact that I was up in the morning but it was still dark out. The sound of the engine firing up, flipping the aerator on, & wondering if our neighbors were being woken up by the noise. Love those memories !!! Quote
Nosoup4u Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 You shave before going fishing? But seriously the best part is I'm not in the office. Quote
Super User bowhunter63 Posted May 21, 2012 Super User Posted May 21, 2012 All of it,But setting the hook in one is a great feeling. Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted May 21, 2012 Author BassResource.com Advertiser Posted May 21, 2012 Tired today but can't wait for the next trip. Had a great day on the water with TStone. We actually did pretty well in the tourney too. I was punching these heavy gator vine mats after lunch and get slammed, so I pin it to the bottom of the mat. Tommy starts to get ready to dig it out and I say, " it's either a big fish or a small gator" . The look on his face was priceless. I pull a little harder and out pops a 4.5 pounder. I almost wish it was a little gator. The story would have been better. Quote
Jake P Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 The anticipation of getting to that first spot and making that first cast as the sun is coming up. the quiet, calm atmosphere that is the exact opposite of working downtown and throughout the city all week. The feeling you get when you feel the tap....tap tap. Setting the hook and feeling the resistance of the fish on the other end. Looking at my son at 2 years old and my daughter at 1 thinking how much I can't wait to teach them and share with them something I love doing almost as much as being their dad. The rods and reels. All of the tackle organized and in order. every single thing about bass fishing is my favorite. I can't get enough! Quote
guest Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 #1 - Getting away from everything (work, women, house, etc) #2 - The uncertainty factor (could be the best day ever, could be the worst) #3 - Tons of lures and presentations #4 - There is nothing like seeing or feeling a bass take your lure and setting the hook #5 - The water/wildlife is beautiful and calming I like to fish, not just catch. The entire experience is rewarding to me. I can throw all day without a bite and still be smiling, thinking that my next cast will result in a lunker. Quote
