Super User DogBone_384 Posted April 13, 2014 Super User Posted April 13, 2014 Stopped by BH Reservoir for a little bit after work. My Sonar-Phone showed small groups of fish around 10' deep in a couple areas, though the bigger fish were on the bottom. Not so much as a bite. They're out of my casting range (Sonar-Phone weighs 4 oz., it flies).A couple guys who are regulars were there: we all agreed that the place might be over fished because we've all had little luck since last August and often witnessed folks taking their catches home. The pond is not stocked, according to State employees I spoke to last year.A couple more weeks should show great improvement. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted April 13, 2014 Author Super User Posted April 13, 2014 Caught 5 rainbow trout yesterday all over 14 inches that was a good time Man, I was catching some really big Trout last year (early summer) on lipless cranks. Caught my first ever Brown Trout too! Boy was that quite the thrill. All in the 14" - 17" range. Rainbow and Brown Trout can really put up quite a fight! Nice fish Bud! Quote
TC235 <*))))>< Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Hit a south shore pond an caught two nice fish plus a few 2-3lbs. Was pumped to say the least! 1 Quote
Sdaversa Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Has anyone been on Lake Sabbatia yet in Taunton? Fishing a tourney there next week, wanted to now if anyone has had any luck there yet this year? Fished Lake Nippenicket in Bridgewater last weekend and absolutely killed them on a jig and shakey heads. Nothing too crazy on size yet, biggest one was about 3lbs, but between me and my buddy we had 12 bass in the boat. Quote

Well...fished the place once...a long time ago and had some luck around the ridge that runs off the right side of the big island. This time of year might just produce at the outflow to the left of the ramp. Kind of extensive but there are pockets.... Up to the right before the pass through there's a spawning flat....probably won't be there yet but they might be snoopin' around. Good luck and have fun. Oh and a friend of mine pulled an 8.2 out of there a few years ago. Grampa Quote
Sdaversa Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Thanks Grampa! That's exactly where I was planning to head. My buddy was out there practicing all the way at the north side of the lake and wasn't hitting too many bass, but hit loads of pickerel a couple he showed me pictures of was massive. So that's some good news, fish are up that side feeding! Quote
bucketmouth_fishin Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Pulled this 4.5 lber last Sunday along with a bunch 1-2 lbers. He was stuffed and had a tail hanging out of his throat. Quote
Mike2841 Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Not sure if they already stocked trout, but I went out with my cousin this morning and he got a pretty nice rainbow out of hopkington Quote
Mike2841 Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Took the boat to ponkapoag today got a decent bass and a small pickerel. Might go hit the Charles in a little while Quote
BR1AN Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 was out trying some lures during the day caught 4-5 small bass and a pickerel. Then i went with my buddy after work for a couple hours landed some more bass and i got a 2lb rainbow. not long til the big ones start coming closer to the shore! Quote
BR1AN Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 first alright size of the year, caught it off my rapala perch lure Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted April 24, 2014 Super User Posted April 24, 2014 Well I am from connecticut and the water temps are in the high 60's but I dont see males on all the beds so I am not sure if they spawned yet but they should be with these water temps as high as they are. Water temps in the high 60's? I have Vexilar's Sonar-Phone, and it showed the surface temp of Blue Hills Reservoir as 41 degrees this morning. I've only caught one little 'dink' up there so far, but the consensus of a few guys that fish there is that it's been fished out & there's nothing left in the water. My little fish finder supports that too, very few pings around the whole place. Best of luck in CT... Quote

Might go hit the Charles in a little while Please tell me where you can launch a boat there. I bought a 'yak over the winter and believe (see previous post) Blue Hills Reservoir is void of bass. I'd love to get out there and catch, rather than just practice casting. Quote
Mike2841 Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 I forget the name of the street, I think it's Randolph st. Drive past Massasoit until you see a sign for a temple, there is a turn in for the parking lot immediately after the sign for the temple. There's a beach about 100 years down from the parking lot. If you have a iphone shoot me a pm with your number and I can text you a pin on the map. Shore fishing is pretty unproductive there but if you have a boat it's not bad, there's a lot of pickerel in there too. Quote
Mike2841 Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Thinking of hitting wachusett Sunday morning, anyone else want to join me? Quote
bucketmouth_fishin Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Got out today for the first time in the jonboat. It's nice to have that depth/fish finder back to see the water temp and how deep the fish are gathering at. A few bass, a lot of pickeral, couple crappie, and a lot of perch. 1 Quote
BR1AN Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 my buddie caught this 4 pounder last night... getting better and better every day! Quote
bucketmouth_fishin Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Nice healthy fish! Some night fish action! What did you guys get him on? Quote
BR1AN Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 he cheated lol.. he used a leftover minnow these people left we were sitting on this stone wall and all we hear is drag peeling almost lost his rod. They definitely started biting around dark 8:30 and after.. This other dude we were with landed a pickerel which was the biggest i ever seen. I never weighed one before but that came out to 3lbs.. It was real thick. 1 Quote
bucketmouth_fishin Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Haha…nice I pulled out a pickerel yesterday at 2.88lbs and then a couple days before at 2.93lbs. Those guys really fought all the way in! 2.93lbs Quote

I hope you meant 100 yards/meters and not years..... that's a really long walk with a Kayak... Thanks, if I can get an afternoon off, I'll try to get out there and check it out. Quote
