Going to try the lower charles tommorow, hopefully the cooler temperatures get them to venture out from their deep hiding spots for at least a little bit.

I'm fishing Singletary tomorrow. I will let you know how it goes.

We were out from about 6 to 2 today on the lower charles. It was a little tough going, but we probably got around 10 bass between the 3 of us. I got the biggest on a whopper plopper early, I would guess around 3. I didn't weigh it because it was making a real fuss about being handled. I was lucky I didn't get hooked while removing the treble from it's front lip. The rest of the day consisted of a few more fish around 2, and some dinks. They seemed to like spinnerbaits best today, double willow leaf. We've had some very tough days on the charles so I was pretty happy with how we did.

Sounds better than how I've been doing on the lower Charles lately which is about 10 fish less than you caught today.

I've been hitting the Brookline Reservoir the past couple of days for about an hour each day and caught 2 small ones, a 2.5lb, and a 3.1lb (my new personal best) on a whopper plopper 90.  Missed several smaller bites.  The big one inhaled the lure with the back hook all the way into its throat.  I was able to get it swimming again giving it the fish version of CPR.

I still cannot get a bite on a 130 to save my life....

Congrats on the new PB! :)

I had what I think was a smallie follow and slap at my 130 a few times, didn't seem to want to commit to it. I switched to the 90 and hooked up with a little smallie inside one of those "nets" they use to keep construction waste out of the river. I got him over the top of it and then he jumped and shook the hook. The smallies really seem to have my number when it comes to the whopper ploppers, I've lost more than I've caught it seems. But I've landed almost every largemouth.

Thanks guys.  I'm just glad I got the fish swimming by again.  I took to long getting those d**n treble hooks out of it.

I'm heading up near Bath, Maine tomorrow for vacation and the place we are staying has a small lake on it which means A LOT of fishing!  ?

WTG! I have a feeling that you'll be well on your way to besting that this fall!

Congrats!

My 11 y/o son and I hit the bay in Kennebunkport yesterday only for an hour and a half before we got chased off the water due to weather. Unfortunately, the stripe sides weren't cooperating. We'll have to wait till next week.

I'm really trying hard for him to catch his first striper.

Keep your fingers crossed.

Thanks JF10.  I have a freshwater lake and the ocean within 100 yards of where we are staying.  It will be tough to decide where to fish.  Probably freshwater early in the morning and evening and saltwater during the heat of the day.

i hope you get that Striper for your son!

The fishing on Singletary was tough yesterday. I managed four keepers, and 3 non-keepers. Nothing real big, all 12-14 inch fish. The guy I was fishing with caught 4.25lb bass, and another guy caught one about 4.5. Soft plastic craws in GP were the best bet.

That's a beautiful rainbow Mike! I rarely ever catch any but I think they are the coolest fish to actually hold and see in person.

Hey, Im going on vacation to Brewster MA and was hoping to see if anyone had any pointers on which spots are the most productive.  Has anyone every tried Sheep pond and have any information on it? thats the closest one to me but i see plenty of other lakes surrounding it.

Long Pond in Brewster/Harwich is supposed to be a good smallmouth pond.  Will you have a boat?  You'll need to find the access.  The one in Brewster requires a resident sticker.  There is supposed to be an access available to all in Harwich.  Ask around when you get there.

Some of the deeper ponds around the state park in Brewster have trout and landlocked salmon.  Never fished them, so I cannot be of much help.

Fish GH enough, and you'll end up catching a catfish or two.  The two I caught there were at the north end of the pond in about eight feet of water.  Most waters have them, more commonly known as hornedpout.

Two years ago on the forum Road Trip to Wilson Lake I caught a forty plus pound channel cat on six pound test line.  Took over a half hour to get it to the boat.  The fellow fishing with me asked if it pulled hard.  I handed him the rod and told him to play with it for a while.  This past year at Pickwick I caught another about 25 pounds.  Both were vertical fights.

Good thing gas isn't $4+ a gallon anymore... My Tundra gets 17ish and I can't get a kayak on my motorcycle.....  Great Herring is 45-1:00 from me w/o Cape Traffic ...

Staying closer to home I hit BHR for a little bit while the rest of family was at work or dance.  Managed a quick 6 bass on wacky rigged 4" Senkos.  Three were not much bigger than the bait and three were 1.5ish.  Lots of little ones picking at my wacky rig and 5" swim Senko.  I've not been here since April.

Good to see some action here: historically I've never done well here in August.

If you want new targets with your kayak then try the Sudbury River at Rt 20 bridge...little access ramp right there...might just catch something you've never caught before...horned pout, northerns and maybe things that you never knew existed. Good luck and don't fall in that water.

Are you saying it's quick water or should I wear my hazmat suit?
