Went out yesterday and today and caught one each day at the same pond. The first one about 1 1/2 caught it on a pit boss the second fish today I caught on a green and white spinnerbait about 2 1/2 lbs. So much fun setting the hook again.

Okay, guys, I'm back.  If we get some good weather (light wind and reasonable temps) I'm going to hit up the two ponds near my home.  If they live up to their potential, I should do well.

If I do, I'll hang out the "vacancy" sign.  I have room for another in my canoe on the pond surrounded by private property.  If it's the pond with public access, such as it is, maybe we can have an outing of the little boat fleet.

Tuesday, 08 March looks to be 50-ish, partly sunny, and relatively low wind....   AND I'M OFF DUTY!

Wednesday looks pretty good too, just cloudier.

Who's going where?

Derek and I have tentative plans to fish Devol (private access), but if you want to head down this way with your vessel, the three of us can fish Sawdy.  I was opting for Devol because I've fished it before in late winter, early spring.  I'm sure you'll find it a most interesting place to fish.

Count me in.  I'd love to fish with a group.  I might even learn a thing or two....  Lemme know which day and what time is good for you.

I'm thinking going after work one night it all depends on the work rolling in the door

Yup, Tuesday and Wednesday next week look good, Wed might even approach 70 degrees supposedly.  Hopefully the winds stay reasonable and they'll be a few good days to get out.

I wasn't able to get out the other day, I'm missing the foam block that seals the console on my kayak, need to either locate it or order a new one.

At the moment, there are three of us who will be fishing Sawdy Pond in Westport on Tuesday.  If you are interested, let us know.  Sawdy is popular with kayakers.  Some fish, some don't.  There won't be much activity there during the week.  But, with the weather they are predicting, it wouldn't surprise me to see some of the old fart regulars like me get a start on the fishing season.

I've got to do something to kill the time between now and when I leave for Pickwick to meet a fishing buddy, in six weeks.

I wish I could go but I have to work. Hopefully I'll be able to make it next time.

Hey Rob, this pond is a lot better than Great Herring, but I won't put my Nitro in it.  Some weekend before I head out, I'll tour you around the pond.  I think you'll be amazed.  Great Herring was in the same league four or five years ago, when the decline in fish production coincided with the decline in vegetation.

The same is true of Mashpee Wakeby and Ashumet, on the Cape, and Lake Webster, in Webster, MA.  It had been a killer lake for smallmouth and largemouth bass until they determined it was necessary to reduce the vegetation.

Good luck guys. I probably won't be out much until April. Work and school have been keeping me pretty busy.  I think next semester I'm going to scale back on some classes to give me some peace of mind, I'm starting to burn out.

Best of luck with school.  All of my degrees were at night, while working one or two jobs.

It's all worth it ?

Certainly a possibility for me, I've got Tuesday off and it sounds like it would be a good first day out.  Hopefully I can find a solution for my kayak before then.

Thanks for the invite. Better than Great Herring wow that place was amazing I can still see vividly that big fish I lost its going to haunt me for the rest of my life I'll remember that fish what bait I was using everything hahaha. It's pretty cool how many good ponds there are down the Cape area. I wish I had more time off from work to take advantage of them my aunt has a private pond I've never even fished and no one else does either. It's loaded with smallmouth and I have to try to get there this summer. Hopefully we can get together and fish I would love to learn from you again. Thanks Fishing Rhino

I placed an order for a new console I needed with rush delivery, so hopefully it'll be here in time for me to get out fishing and enjoy the weather Tuesday/Wednesday.  It's supposed to be here Monday, fingers crossed.

the kayak has a console for installing a fish finder,  I was missing a piece that keeps the unit waterproof.  I ordered the piece and it'll be here tomorrow, so if you guys want to give me a time and meeting place I should be able to meet you all down at Sawdy on Tuesday.

Took my Ascend to Ponkie this afternoon for a shake down run with a trolling motor a friend gave me.  It worked quite well, but it'll take some time/practice to set it up to keep from drifting too much.  I was also rewarded with a 2 pound 12 ounce pickerel that liked my yellow perch jerk bait.

Meeting some BR members @ Saudy pond in the morning.  Looking forward to it.

Man I wish I could be there with you guys tomorrow. I'm gonna go fishing after work in the morning though. I got one of those spro rats in the smallest size I can't wait to see it in the water and hopefully catch a fish. Good luck tomorrow guys hope you catch em good.

You guys should try fishing in Boston too. I caught a 4.5lb and 3lb bass and a 3.5lb pike today, all under 30'

Had a good start to March.  Met Fishing Rhino & JG233 at Sawdy Tuesday AM.  I caught a couple dink pickerels and JG caught a 5 pound 5 ounce LM on a whacky rig.  Water temps were in the low 40s.  It's a big chunk of water for a car top boat.  It was great to meet a couple members.  I'm looking forward to a repeat trip and catching some good bass.

I snapped the plastic tensioners on my 128T's seat, so down to Joann's Fabric went I for some replacements Wednesday.  Jacob's pond is close by so I launched a little after 10:00.  It was very windy, which turned out a good opportunity to learn how to keep my kayak still (-ish) with the trolling motor.  Managed a small pickerel (twice) and a chubby little yellow perch.  Other than that, it was quiet.  As I packed up to leave I was notified that motors of any kind are no longer allowed at Jacob's Pond.  Water temperatures were 47 - 49 while I was there.

Weather looks good for Saturday, though a little windy, the family is working.  I'll be launching at Ponkapog in the morning.
