Hit my favorite South Shore pond (not the one discussed above) Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning.. I was trying to figure them out Friday/Saturday to meet up with a new friend Sunday and put him on fish. Friday I caught 3 dinks in 2 hours before work, Saturday one dink in 3.5 hours before groceries. Sunday it all broke loose.

caught this long skinny fish on a white frog at 5:23 AM

I didn’t think my day could get any better… then I caught this Pig at 6:08 on a black and blue chatterbait Evo

IMG-2081.jpg

finally earned a pin.. I think.. 20 15/16 inches my understanding is they round up 1/4 inch.. if I realized in the moment how close it was I may have pointed the tail a little.. 5lb 5oz PB

They're usually not picky with the pictures, they should accept that as 21". Congrats!

For what its worth I think they docked me a half an inch from my rainbow trout so they wouldn't have to deal with a three way tie for year's biggest.

I’ve been trying so hard for so long. Fingers crossed.. 🤞… I never read the board right in the moment, I always look at the picture when I’ve calmed down and go “wow, bigger than I thought.”

I fished 4 Cape ponds over the last 2 days.  One was moderately deep and the other three were 30'+.  I threw everything I could imagine and came up with 14 perch, 4 SMB (one was just about 2#), 1 catfish, and 1 pickerel.  My big SMB bit a wacky Senko under a dock, where LMB should have been.  Everyone else came on either a jerkbait or lipless crank.  Some perch were smaller than my jerkbait, which was as funny as catching big bass is fun.

Water temps were in the low/mid 80's and it was about as bluebird as you can get.  Air pressure was 30.

Armchair quarterbacking after I got back to Dennis Port, I figured I should have S L O W E D down more and perhaps dragged a craw or Rage Tail Menace on the bottom, even though I threw a drop shot and small Keitechs.  Either that or the bass on the Cape were vacationing in NH.

Congrats to @TheSwearingAngler for some big Larries.

Dropped into my home pond late yesterday afternoon, bringing a jig, Kut Tail worm, 4.75" Rage Swimmer, and frog.  I drove away with 2 LMB, one just under and another just over 2 pounds.  The first bass smashed my jig and the second took the paddle tail. I got a few hits on the frog, including one GOOD one, but nobody took it home.

Water temps were 80.x, it was cloudy, and the air pressure 30.1.

@Mr. Aquarium's been on a slump lately, so I've planned on meeting him at a SMB kettle after work tonight that's a guarantee.

I fished 4 ponds for my last Summer trip to the Cape.  Almost the same results as my last trip.  I got three good LMB on a green pumpkin Swim Senko at one, one nice rainbow at another, and the rest were dink perch.

I dragged an LV500 and drop shot deep in two ponds, still no bass.  Other than that I threw my 'normal' assortment of everything I could think of.

Water temps were 83.x - 84.x and air pressure was 29.9 - 30.

I'm probably going to stay shallow for the rest of the month.  Maybe some frog action?  I've never done much frogging.

I feel like the water levels being so ridiculously low has really fudged the fish up, been a crap summer for me. I basically only fish at night cuz the kids, and even that has been garbage.

I fish the South Shore, Plymouth, and Cape Cod.  All but one pond is the highest I've seen it in years.

That's wild bro, this is some of the lowest water I've ever seen. I've practically been despondent over it because it's really messed the fish up and bank fishing has been skunk city.

what part of the state are you in?

@DogBone_384 North shore, but even my trips up to Maine the water level has been the lowest I've seen in 8 years - never went to Maine before that.

So much mud at the banks now and all the weeds are topped out where they shouldn't be

Dropped into one of my Plymouth favorites late yesterday.  Bagged 2 SMB, each around 2 1/2 pounds  and 2 white perch, around 3/4 pounds each.  I lost 2 SMB on bad hooksets.  All the smallies wanted was a Siebert 3/8 oz bluegill jig w/3.3" Bandito Bug trailer.  They were in 30'.

Water temps were 82.x, it was mostly sunny with a light breeze from the west, and the air pressure was 29.9.

I wasn't there to see it but my dad sent a picture of a 5-11 he got on a Psycho Gill last night. Very healthy looking fish.

That's a good Fish!

What color and what part of the state?

He's in central MA. His Psycho Gill is the crappie pattern one. IMG_20240811_203530_641.jpg.81029873d04441ddde8fea75319dc345.jpg

Took a couple short trips the last few days.  The first was my home pond.  I threw a 1/2 ounce punch jig, 6.8" Keitech, a frog, and a Yamamoto Kut Tail.  The jig netted me a 2 pound LMB from a hole between the lili pads and a rock.  Water temps were 81.x

Yesterday's trip was to Plymouth.  One LMB liked a 5" perch Senko. The rest of the crew, 2 more LMB and 1 SMB smashed a perch 3XD.  I lost a good smallie on a pink/clear tube in 30' and a bigger 'who knows what' that crushed a Shimano Flash Boost deep jerkbait.  Number two was lost because of line failure.  Water temps were 79.x.

Fall is fast approaching!

I fished today with my dad in central MA. I had an awesome summer worm bite going on the 10" black power worm. Probably got 15-20 fish and all very solid 2 to 3lbers, capped it off with a 5-0. My dad started us off strong in the morning with a 5-1 on the psycho gill and did some damage as well on a jig. IMG-20240816-WA0007.jpg.9341eb06fbc10f2fe3a03266f00ce422.jpg

I finally got @Fishing Rhino out on his Nitro yesterday.  We stayed pretty close to his home, fishing a big, shallow, crowded lake.  It didn't matter, Tom was out fishing.  The best part of all is he nabbed a nice 4_1 LMB on one of his favorite soft baits.

So you old timers out there ... ... Tom's still at it.

Been fishing all summer haven’t posted in a while.  Fall is definitely fast approaching, fish are getting their feed bag on.

Went out to the local river today.  Water is still a little low, water temp in the low 70s.   Fished a 1/2oz jig along the bank where it drops from 1’-10’, picked up about 15 bass, all fat.  Capped of the trip with a 5.2lb bass on the jig, thought it was a pike at first the way it just went deep when I set the hook.

Dropped into my home pond around supper time. I kept it simple: no electronics, a frog, jig, T-rigged worm, and Zoom Fluke.

My weather APP said the winds would die down by 1700 hours, but no go.  Winds were 8-10 from the West, which makes for a fast drift.  The water level is also down a lot from a month ago, making the weeds meet the surface over most of the pond.  I don't think I stayed even two hours.

I managed one LMB, a shade under two pounds, on the jig.  Good enough just to beat the skunk.

My trip out last weekend I noticed a lot of concentrated baitfish activity around the most lively and thick weedbeds and the bass seemed to be in lock step. I actually had one bass spit up some baby bass from this spring! I doubt all the bait we saw were bass fry but definitely a few of the smaller schools. Of course we caught them on thing that didn't resemble baby ass at all haha. I even switchd to a small bladed spinnerbait at one point to try and match the hatch a bit better but they didn't want it. Sometimes you just gotta stick with what is working and not overcomplicate it.  The cooler nights are definitely here and that switch to the fall bite will be here before we know it. I'm hoping to do more fishing in september but it's traditionally been a tough month for me.
