Good to hear... I caught two nice LMB there in December.  I like Plymouth and Cape Cod, but it's a long drive.

I'm only 20 minutes down the road.  ... ?

Went out on Lake Sabbatia for a couple hours after lunch. Think i'll spend a lot more time here this year learning how to break a place down and really find these bass.

Didn't find any bass today but did get the skunk out of the boat with a FAT yellow perch.

Will be heading back tomorrow for another try while the water is warming before the cold comes back. Water today was anywhere from 41F degrees on the southern side to 46F in the northern coves.

BigEyedF11    Maquan used to be really good, it was loaded with 3lbrs and some nice crappie. There was a guy a few years ago that fished it regularly and kept all his bass. That could do a number on a place that size. Give Indian Head a try also. The crappie bite should be good along with the white perch.

Got a nice piggy yesterday’. My buddy never has an afternoon off during the week. He’s like I need fish. Took him to my gem I’ve been doing well at recently. Never really thought we would get anything big but I knew we would we get em.  Im hanging out drinking a beer. Let him get first crack at the shore spot. He gets a nice fish, first bass of 2021. So he’s stoked so I said it’s my turn.  Fish the same spot. Smoked a  fat fish. Fish inhaled the real prey.  No idea how big.  Both scales were dead.  I have a few more whacks but i couldn’t fish after that fish haha. My buddy gets another nice one. His fish were about 2 or so pounds.

he was using a weedless hudd I gave him, that secret money bait for this pond. They love thst thing.  I fished something different and it got em

First time spring fishing in NE and wanting to get the bass boat out after hearing Cape Cod is freeing up, but nervous about overnight freezes still happening and the engine being wet. Anyone got tips? Is it safe to go out when it’s 40-50 degrees and dropping back in the 20s or teens at night? I had the boat winterized and wrapped, but now it’s unwrapped and I keep it tarped. Itching to just get on the water some, but don’t want to ruin anything due to inexperience with the weather up here.

Went to Sabbatia for a couple hours early this morning, since i've been going out in the afternoon all the time. Got no bites and the wind was picked up, then I casted off my vision 110+1 (on a spinning rod!) so I hang my head in defeat once again and called it a day.

Talk about frustrating... ?

Friggin tank perch @Meowmicks Those perch 110’s are a pretty solid color match

I agree! Nice one @Meowmicks

Nice fish @Mr. Aquarium! Gotta be 4 to 5lbs at least right? I'm debating just going all on on the big baits, at least for the spring.

Agree! 4-5 lbs for sure...maybe more!

I honestly would wait a bit, but I'm a little conservative.

In all honesty, you're really only a month away. Why take a chance.

Went back today and got one of his leftovers I think! Really sick bite. Casted at some wood with a yellow perch vision 110+1, saw a silver flash come darting out of the wood and paused my retrieve and got to watch him annihilate it like 10 feet from the kayak.

also got another 1.5-2lber in the same area who was fired up and dogged me at the boat a little. First time that’s happened since last fall, funny how sluggish they get in the winter.

Sick fish @Mr. Aquarium give up some of your swim bait juice, what would you suggest to someone looking to get into the swim bait game?

Nice fish @BigEyedF11sh

thanks fellas. For swimbaits. You can buy a decent rod for 130 bucks, savage gear bowser, and a guide select.

swimbaits, I highly recommend a slammer. This thing gets bit. Hard! A lot! 7 inch or a 9 inch. I prefer the 9.
Look at savage gear line up. They got a ton of good bugs swimbaits. They get CHEWED.  The line throughs. The glides. Big topwaters. Also check our spro. Not many swimbaits in the line up like savage. They got a few. Spro bbz, the bbz rat and the glides. They get chewed.

for a soft bait. I highly highly recommend a 5 inch real prey perch. That’s the bait  the got the biggon yesterday.  Slow swim it. Gets crushed. All the real prey line up gets hit hard!

Got out to my local pond after school today. Fished a ton of different lures, ended up getting a bite on a t-rigged black and blue craw, but he came off. Still trying to figure the bite out, but I think I’m getting better. Still looking for a consistently producing spot around me, any suggestions? I live right off 95, just south of the pike

My dad and I hit Long Pond today. It was only our 2nd time there ever so we did a lot of exploring. Tried figuring out what the deeper structure looked like and tried to target that. The wind made that difficult so we did a lot of driving around to start. When we got there there were 2 foot waves rolling down the lake. Found a couple deep spots that seemed promising but "deep" on that lake is like 10ft. I managed a healthy pickerel on a tailspin on a drop-off outside a cove. The North end of the lake was a few degrees warmer and sheltered from the wind a bit (thank God). We didn't manage any bass but found more good size pickerel up shallow. Felt good to set the hook on something.

We actually started at Snipatuit but it was high and that launch isn't great unless you have a truck. I had his entire SUV about 5 feet from shore and the boat still wouldn't come off the trailer. So Long Pond was plan B.

Freetown.

I always find it funny how there's so many unique names for the hundreds of lakes and ponds around the state and then we have like 10 "Long Ponds".

Hey guys I have a positive report. I Hit a river in Cambridge. This was Saturday. This was my first time fishing this river. I had the hot tip about the big Hudd in the back of my mind as I walked down there. I tried some casts at the first spot, my new line wasn't giving me issues. Headed upriver, walking then stopping to cast hither and thither. Eventually I knew I was at a good spot. It was immediately downriver from a bridge and the wind and sun was hitting it. There was some bubbles on the surface (always love that). Rolled the vibrating jig through there and she loaded on. Was buzzing pretty good from this one. Fished the rest of the afternoon without any more bites, hit the same spot on the way back but it was cold and shady by then.20210313_143001_HDR_resized.thumb.jpg.7358190ac7f5099826df3bb0b1bb3c3b.jpg.

Went by the Norton res for 30 mins and threw a wacky rig at some open shallow water, some of the water here froze up from the cold the last few days. Didn't have any luck there, so on the way home stopped by a small pond behind my house. The sun/current had melted some open water from this morning so figured lets give it a try.

Started off throwing the wacky rig then got the weedless hook hung up in some timber and broke off (funny how that happens right?)

Switched it up to a Mann's Baby -1 I just picked up from BPS and 1st cast landed my very 1st ice out bass of 2021.

Congratulations!

I’m finally in Cape Cod for a few days of fishing.  I stopped by Great Herring this afternoon on the way down.  My hands went numb by the time I drove to the northern end and in typical Great Herring fashion, the wind picked up just after I launched.

I checked out the shallower areas for a bit.  Water temps ranged from 39.x to 41.x.  Although the wind was supposed to be 10 mph from the SW, it felt like zero, even with the layers I had on.  After losing an underspin and hair jig, I couldn’t tie another palomar knot, so I packed it in.  And in typical Great Herring fashion, it was nearly calm again as I pulled away from the launch.

Tomorrow’s another day.

I’ll be on Cape Cod for the next few days.  I’ve got my Ranger and Lure 11.5, so I sure hope I can dig up my first March fish.  I’m leaning towards my kayak on small waters rather than the boat.  We’ll see.

It’s good other members are catching fish.

I don't know if the chatterbait is considered an early season bait, but it has been clutch for me for year after year now.

I fished a private pond in Chadham and Hinckley’s in Brewster today.  Water temps were 40.x at both ponds.  The weather was cold in the morning but warmed up nicely.  Air pressure was 30.2.

I threw different jerk baits, flat cranks, a couple square bills, a chatterbait, blade bait, Big TRD, and black/blue Yamamoto Kut Tail and came up empty at both ponds.

I’ve skunked 10 of my last 13 trips this year.  Time to do something else for a while.

Best of luck to everyone out there.

Caught my first psycho gill fish. First spot somebody was already there drowning shiners. Didn’t get anything. I left shortly after.  Hit a new pond. Got a small fish up shallow, wind blown cove sunny cove. Tried my favorite night spot. Didn’t get a single bite
