Keep me in the loop.  I'll bring my Overdrive Lure - you can give it a go.  It's so different from paddling it's almost weird.

I have to check the calendar though ... see if 'the boss' has anything on the books for us.

Looks like I'll be hitting the Quabbin again this weekend, maybe I'll see some of you out there?

We crushed it on Flax Pond a couple days ago.  I caught a 19" smallmouth and my buddy pulled in a 5lb, 10oz largemouth.  Total we caught close to 30 fish from 3pm until dark.  I'm glad to see Cliff Pond producing.  I've fished it twice and only caught one bass.  I'm interested to try it again... Maybe tomorrow...

Quabbin was a bit tough yesterday unless you were fishing small males guarding fry up shallow serious post spawn lock jaw appears to have set in.  I got 7, buddy got 6.  We chucked a lot of lures, tube and football jig dragged slow off the ledges were about all we could get bit on for the post spawners.  Nothing big.  Fairly slow and tough day.. I know we could've caught a ton of 1-2lbers up shallow but I was trying to get a better fish to bite, never did.

Did I mention I can't wait to get my boat?  Just picked up a helix 10" Mega SI and Ultrex for it tody?

Here we go. My new PB weighed in 5.8 lbs: fat fat fat fish.

Then we have the 4.5 lb'er that was long, but skinny. It looked like a pretty beaten up older fish. If it was as fat as the first one, I would've had a 6+ lb bass.

What a great day of fishing. The bar is thus set very high for the summer! And these were the kind of acrobatics I was treated to all day.

Congrats on a great day! I'm sorry I missed out.  Hopefully your mojo carries through the week...

Fished a pond in south shore yesterday morning for about 3.5 hours in my kayak.  Had about 10 fish--8 bass and 2 yellow perch.  Nothing big.  As I was fishing a ned rig with my medium light setup, I hooked onto something in 12 feet of water that I thought was the biggest fish of the day.  When I finally reeled it in, I couldn't believe my eyes.  It was a spinning setup (mojo bass rod/symetre 3000fj reel) that someone had dropped in the water.  The rod was in okay shape but the reel needs to be taken apart and thoroughly cleaned.  This was the first time ever I successfully "caught" a rod & reel.  Two years ago I lost a setup when a hooked 5 lb pickerel jumped from my kayak into the water as I put the rod down to look for my pliers.  I returned to the same spot the next day and spent two hours trying to use a bottom rig to fish my setup out of the water, only to no avail.  Then I realized how dumb I was--the pickerel must have swam away with it!

Let me know if the mojo bass rod and symetre reel belong to you.  I am happy to return them to their owner.

That deserves some sort of award.... ?

Gee, and I'm usually happy if I catch gear bigger than a bobber! Guess I need to start throwing a ned rig more often! ?

I haven't travelled far I hit Long Pond in Rutland, Lake Waushacum in Sterling, and Chu in Boylston. Overall, jerking the megabass 110 has been king. Never thought I'd say it but that $25 was worth it. The darting action is spot on and large and smallies go crazy after it. I've gone through 2 Teckel frogs at some areas of the chu where its impossible to toss much else. Godzilla pickerel tear them up is the only downside. Even with the crappy cold rain yesterday i was able to get bit on it.

Lots of bass still on beds and males smashing baits in the middle of the day at the chu. If you find the right places, the middle of the day is good to fish this time of year near shoreline on the shadey side. Another month and its gonna be very hard unless your tossing a heavy topwater late in the evening or early morning a country mile.

To top it off I walked by a couple thinking they found a quiet place to get it on... They were so ticked they waited for me to leave before they came out from behind the bushes so I wouldn't see their faces.

Heading to the Cape in the morning for some marathon fishing.  I’m planning on Cliff, Flax, Sheep, and Hinkleys as of now, depending on the need for resident stickers.

Good luck to everyone else that’s getting out there too!

Got out this afternoon after work.  Caught a few 1-1.5lb LMB on a square bill.  Fished topwater after 7pm.  Missed two good fish on a frog.  Switched to a whopper plopper and got this solid 4lb fish!  Most spectacular topwater catch I've ever had!

Had a good trip to the Cape.  Started at Cliff Pond in Brewster around noon Wednesday.  It’s BIG for a kayak.  I managed three SMB, all off points in 8-10’ of water on a green/red flake jig.  Lost a couple.  Water temps were 65.x-66.x and BP was 30.1.  It was on/off breezy.  Towards the end of daylight I moved over to Little Cliff Pond to see what was what.  It was weedy and reminded me of Whitman’s pond in Weymouth.  I landed two pickerel right quick and called it a day.  Water temps were 68.x.  A local said he’d grabbed 5 pound LMB out of Cliff eariler in the week.  I hear that everywhere I go.... I’ve got to take better notes.

I launched at Flax pond Thursday at dawn and grabbed a SMB on a Zara Puppy on the first cast.  I mixed it up with a wacky rigged green/red Senko, brown swim jig, DT-6 Rapala, and a red/brown Ned rig.  I packed it up around 3:00 and had 6 SMB and 2 LMB in the kayak.  I also lost a few.  Water temps were 66.x-67.x, BP was 30.2, it was pretty calm most of the day, with a breeze picking up after lunch.

From Flax I moved to Hinckleys in Harwich .  It’s not posted as needing a town sticker and the local Harbormaster (I was directed there by PD) said it was OK.  I got five SMB and one perch there on the same lure mix I used at Flax.  The biggest two were 2-4 and 2-7.  Water temps were 67.x-68.x.  It was too windy most of the time to fish topwater effectively.

I had to head home Friday, but I fished Hedges in Plymouth since I pass it.  I fished it from 6:00 to 10:30, landed 4 SMB around 1 1/2 pounds, having a couple more unhook me before I got them in the kayak.  Best of all, I hooked onto what I thought were weeds, but it turned out to be a yellow perch blade bait I lost there in January, snap swivel, leader and length of braid....  what are the odds of that !?!?!?!?!  Water temps were 67.x-68.x and BP was 30.1.  All the SMB were caught in 10-12’ of water, deeper than I normally catch them here.

Overall a good trip.  The overall winner sure was a wacky rigged Senko.

At the private pond I've been fishing, I landed one LMB over 4 lbs today, another that was around 3 lbs, and a dozen smaller ones. I won't be able to fish for the next week or so. Keep the reports coming.

Got a nice 4lb LMB yesterday at my little go-to pond just down the road, but heading out at O'dark thirty for the Nashua River. If my sonar wasn't lying there are a couple of chunky ones I'd love to hook into....provided they haven't moved too far from where I marked them.

Gotta get at least a 6lb to get on the board for the BBWC....here bassy, bassy, bassy! ??

I’m thinking of a meet and greet somewhere where we can all launch kayaks/canoes and BBQ...... maybe camp a day or two?

What says the membership?

I'm interested in a get together where we can fish then cook some hot dogs, steaks or whatever.  But I like my own bed at night.  Maybe I'm getting old.  Getting old?  I'm already there.
