Yeah, check the warranty. I broke a rod tip on a Fenwick and they replaced the rod. All they wanted was a picture of the rod tip and the receipt.  I kept the old rod and put a tip on. Good deal!  ?

Interesting, for some reason I thought this only applied to the champion series and above. Thanks!

Broke my PB for the 2nd time this year!

Bite was super slow today, tried fishing deeper and did manage a couple but even the pickerel weren't having it. I tried to stick with swimbaits today but also had a spinnerbait tied on which is what I got my first two fish on. We moved shallow looking for fish in the thick milfoil beds. I was fishing a 3 piece PB rat and she just came out of nowhere in like 3 FOW and slurped it down. I saw her belly when she rolled and knew it was big but didn't know until she was in the net I had a new PB. She went 6.26 and puts me back on track to hit my goal of 5 fish over 5. Two more to go.

Congrats!  It is so awesome to break your PB twice this year!  It took me four plus years to get a new PB last year.

Thanks! I got a 5.40 as a kid and managed to tie it exactly twice in the last 5 years. It was starting to feel like a curse lol. So stoked to break it and then jump into the 6 club in the same year.

Dropped into Ponkapoag yesterday afternoon for a couple hours and found the bite in the ON position.  I caught four LMB, one pickerel, and one yellow perch with various green/red flake soft baits. Two Larries just made it over two pounds. All fish were skinny.

Water temps were 74.x, air pressure was 30.1 and winds were slight from the S/SE.

@MassYak85  now you need a 7

It'll be in the back of my mind this fall and next spring for sure. I've been slowly mixing the swimbaits in more heavily. Definitely paid off yesterday although this spring I couldn't put down a red spinnerbait. Absolute killer once the water temps touched 50. You got your 7 in the middle of summer though right?

Yep got my 7.8 on a 9 Inch slammer cranked down along a drop off leading to a shallow Lilly pad flat. It was mid afternoon hot sunny June day.  I believe  caught 2 more over 7 in recent memory. One was early March on 1/4 ounce jig.3 feet of water at a blow down. Ice still on the pond snow on the ground.  Absolute gorilla. Scale broke

next one was in August on a lunker city 6.5  fins’n fish.  No fish all day. Decided to bring the rod and the lure I had on. Swam across the pond to this rock. 5 min for this giant, swam across the pond with the fish pinned to my chest. scale brown

I'm so paranoid about having a backup scale and backup batteries lol. Guess I need to forget the scale at home to catch the true monsters lol.

I feel the same way. I’ll say I’m feelin good, going to stick some pigs today. Wrong.  Most of the time it ends up being slow.  Can’t call my shots/ be pumped up or feel confindent lol.

Anyone here have experience with pedal driven kayaks?  I have a traditional fishing kayak, it works well, and I have a ton of fun but there are times I look at those with PDL drives or even built in trolling motors wishing I had the same to help counter the wind, stay on the same spot, and help me effectively fish larger bodies of water.

Only things holding me back are price (part of me would rather just stick to traditional kayaking/paddling and save my money for when I have the space to get a tracker or smaller jon boat w/ trolling motor and outboard) and ease of use.  The price outright isn't that bad, I'm just unsure of the return I'll receive from spending 1300+ on a kayak lol.

Right now my kayak weighs around 50 lbs and I can easily throw it in the bed of my truck and dump it in the water without using a dolly/worrying about banging it around a little.  Just really hard to stay on spots I've marked and get across a big lake without taking an eternity/spinning around with wind when I'm fishing 'offshore'.   Wouldn't mind partaking in a KBF tournament at some point either

Any insight would be great! Thanks guys

Firstly, welcome to the forum!

I have a FeelFree Lure 11.5 with their pedal drive system. It’s worth EVERY penny. FeelFree’s kayaks are a’la cart, meaning the kayak, Overdrive, and Motordrive are sold separately, which makes it easy to build up over time if you’re on a budget.

I have their storage box that sits where the Overdrive goes for times where I paddle instead of pedal. FeelFree’s seat is all day comfortable too.

I take the seat and overdrive out and hoist the kayak on my truck’s ladder rack to transport, so lifting it into your bed is easy as pie.

If you can, drop into Banannas (Wareham) or Gone Banannas (Kingston). They’re two kayak shops that carry the most popular brands you can see in person. The Wareham store is the bigger of the two.

Good luck buying your kayak.

My brother has the Native Titan 10.5 propel and it’s a tank. It’s nice, but heavy has hell. I’d look at the native Slayer propel max 10 or 12.5 . Yes, they are pricey, but compared to the Hobie’s, much much cheaper. One thing to consider too, is the 10 footers to 10.5 footers get blown around a little easier in thecc CD wind. The longer pedal drive kayaks track better in rougher water too!

I started with a 60 lb 13 ft paddle kayak then three years ago I bought an Oldtown Topwater PDL 10.6 and I love it.  The PDL definitely fishes better on larger bodies of water and in wind (up to 15 mph).  I really like the ability to make tight turns and the instant reverse on the PDL, which makes fishing tight spots super easy.  It weighs 80lbs (with the drive taken out) so I just haul it in the bed of my truck.  I bought mine used from a local dealer for 1/3 off and then wired it myself.  So if you want to save some money, check with local shops to see if they have any used ones in inventory.

Dude same! It'll be overcast with some drizzle and a little wind and I always think I'm gonna go out there and just lay into them on the big baits but it's always the days I'm not expecting it I catch a good one.
