I just got done shaving off about half the lead on mine. It was easier to cut open and glue back together than I was expecting actually. Would you mind sending me the link to that video? That sounds really cool. Does he (or anyone else you've heard of) ever take standard 8" hudds and do a weedless conversion? I was just looking at my 8" today and got to thinking a beast hook might fit inside with the harness removed.

hmm never seen that done before! but sounds ineresting! you could just get a premade weedless 8inch.

im in the process of making a suspending 7 inch slammer! if i can do this! i honestly think it will be a deadly trick

That would be sweet! I can imagine cranking it down and then letting it suspend next to a piece of cover could be killer!

Only reason I ask about the 8" weedless is the only place I've seen them online is from Ken's website, and they've gone up to like 40 bucks a pop, which is what it is I guess. I've also heard he can be inconsistent with getting orders out, but I've never personally ordered from him. I regret not getting any when TW used to stock them, and they had them for like 29 bucks I think.

Let us know how it turns out! I've got a piece of bass wood lying around I'll try and do something with one day. I'll probably start with just a walking topwater lure but might try something kind of like a slammer if it turns out okay.

Does anyone know of any good fishing spot around Beverly, MA? My friend recently moved over there, so he wants to try out bass fishing. We would be fishing from shore, so the smaller the pond or area, the better.

Thanks in advance!

Nice! Only walleye I've ever personally seen in MA came out of the Connecticut river, my dad caught it when I was young.

Tomorrow’s weather looks great for SMB fishing .... hope to see some of you in Plymouth .... look for the orange Tundra.

I hope you had a better day in Plymouth than I did at Quabog @DogBone_384. Water temps were 37-39, that baby is ready to freeze! Not a sniff from any fish, tried fishing hudds super slow most of the time, also tried a jig with no luck. I did manage to find a little bit of rock cover in what I thought was a complete mud bowl, so at least I have that information for future use.

Nope... no luck either.  Water temps were 49.X.  I kept it simple with a gold Binsky, brown/mustard hair jig, and a back chrome/orange shadow rap deep.  Paddled my usual trail and didn’t mark much.  Looked at other drop offs, found some but nobody was interested in my offerings.

Spoke to another guy fishing there who said he came for SMB but caught more LMB. He also said he’d found them shallower than he’d thought they’d be.  He was fishing a drop shot while we spoke.

The pond I fished today is 40’ deep in a lot of places with nice flats and drop offs (typical Plymouth) - I’ve never had great luck in deeper ponds.  Just have to keep good notes and keep trying.

Got onto them pretty good yesterday! Water temps 48-49 Smaller deeper pond in Plymouth! Picked off fish here and there until I got on to em!  Found fish from 10 feet to 25! The area I had best luck in was in a bowl that runs along the shore!   I already fished it early got some fish  just before sunset came back! Smoked em!  The bowl starts out shallow on the south end drops quick into 20 feet then comes up quick on the north end!

Most fish were on the hair jigs. Got a few on  blades to! No fish on jerkbaits!

Today fished a new pond! 5 acres 30

feet deep! Looks awsome no fish! Then fished a smallie only place no fish here either  blades hair jig and jerkbaits

@MassYak85 here’s a picture of the harness in a hudd

@Mr. Aquarium Sounds like you're having better luck than me! Thanks for that Hudd picture. It almost seems like you could take out the harness and use the cavity left behind as a space to compress if you somehow rigged it weedless. I'm not sure I want to try it with mine but maybe. Do you use custom hair jigs or is there a brand you'd recommend? I want to try a few but not sure what to get.

yea thats something that would be pretty sweet!!! but i wouldnt dare to open a hudd and try it.

i do tie my own hair jigs! i suck at it. just started last week, i have tied before in the past few years but wasnt serious about it! cumberlans jig is awesome  and the punisher jig. the punisher jig was getting bit better then the cumberlans.  the punisher jig was a bit heavier with a small paca craw.  black has been the go to.

also got some nice yellow perch!

Finally got my MS Slammer. I canceled my TW order after the 5th backorder date change and ordered it from another site. Got a 9" in dark rainbow. It looks amazing! Mike does an incredible job with the paint on these things. I boiled the tail to get it perfectly straight, changed the hooks and will be testing it out this weekend.

The best site for Slammers in my experience is swimbaitcity.com If he's got it its listed if not its not listed. I've bought 5 from him and he's really helpful if you have any big bait questions. He typically has a larger stock than TW.

That's actually where I got mine from! I just was sick of waiting for TW to get them in. Only reason I ordered it on backorder was it was during a sale but it wasn't worth the 10 bucks to me to wait months and months to finally get it.

Yea I liked them on Facebook and see them post slammer pics sometimes. It's a bit of a haul from where I am but someday I'd definitely like to go there. Are there any good tackle shops in Central mass? I've got a few local to me that I go to every once in a while mostly for bait during ice fishing but none of them have great stock and rarely do I see swimbait stuff other than like s wavers.

I need to get down to the cape more for sure! I'll take you up on that sometime, probably won't be for a while though, I'll actually be back down in Virginia January until late June. But after that I've got 2 months before my last year of school starts so I plan on doing some serious fishing lol. I am looking forward to being around some double digits when the spawn rolls around though this spring :D
