Mike2841 Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Perch, pickerel and trout are all more active in te colder water than bass. It's funny that you caught 2 perch on a perch rapala, I always seem to catch them on a perch colored bait too. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted November 6, 2014 Super User Posted November 6, 2014 I went out yesterday and caught six largemouth. Average close to two pounds.  All on a wacky rig, four inch senko, watermelon with black and red flake, fished very slowly. Quote

I guess I'm NOT done yet ... What town/city? I'm just outside Boston & most ponds near me are heavily fished. Quote
Mike2841 Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Went to spot pond today for about 3 hours, got one nibble but I didn't hook into anything. Planning on going to wachusett next Wednesday hopefully I can get a laker Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted November 15, 2014 Super User Posted November 15, 2014 Outdoor thermometer reads 32.7. Â Methinks it's time to clean & stow the rods & get out my skis. Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted November 17, 2014 Super User Posted November 17, 2014 I's gonna be a long winter - withdrawls are beginning to set in. Quote
Mike2841 Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Went to wachusett twice last week, lost what I assume was a laker about 5-10 feet from shore. I'm not done fishing til the water freezes over, then I may take a shot at ice fishing. Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted November 18, 2014 Super User Posted November 18, 2014 Stopped by Jacobs Pond in Hanover and fished from shore. Â Didn't dress appropriately so I didn't last but an hour. Â Got nothing, though it was kind of fun to break out my 25+ YO Diawa Mini-Cast and compare it to my modern setups. Â Boy, what a difference. Â Right now I don't have any work booked for day shifts for the rest of the week, perhaps I'll hit Houghton's Pond and try some Powerbait and spinners. Quote
BR1AN Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Havent fished in over a month, A buddy of mine i started seeing again has all the equipment for ice fishing so i am definitely looking forward to that. He says he usually has alot of luck setting up tipups and then using his flasher to jig a hole. I guess your always doing something whether your running to the flag to pull up perch and bass or resetting baits and jigging the holes. Pretty pumped. Quote
grampa1114 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Last time I went ice fishing there were 4 of us......a quart of bloody mary's, a quart of blackberry brandy and a case of beer. Booze was gone, we went home, good day ice fishing. 1 Quote
BR1AN Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 ^haha  well the trout fishing for us today sucked, gorgeous weather though! Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted November 26, 2014 Super User Posted November 26, 2014 Unless we get another warm trend, I figure I closed out this season at Jacob's Pond, in Norwell/Hanover. Â Tossed the Ascend 128T in the water and spent the day picking pickerel, yellow perch, and crappie. Â All in all I caught 14 fish. Â One pickerel was a PB for me (I'd estimate 18-24"), but it shook itself off the hook while I held it up reaching for my lipper. Â Had one more good one, unknown type, get off when my snap swivel opened up. Â I saw it hit the surface violently a couple times: I hope it was able to shake the Rapala free. Though not a bass was seen or heard from, not a bad late November day fishing. Â Perhaps I'll give ice fishing a whirl this winter, though I plan on skiing as much as working two jobs allows. Â Hope everyone else in Eastern MA had a good season. Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted November 28, 2014 Super User Posted November 28, 2014 Looks like we're getting a little reprieve Sunday & Monday. With any luck I'll get out one or both days.Hope everyone in E-MA had a great Thanksgiving. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted November 28, 2014 Super User Posted November 28, 2014 I just don't like fishing around here this time of year. The fishing really slows down. I have caught bass as late as December 31st, and a few were nice ones. But, it wasn't fun. Their metabolism must be almost hibernation stage. They try to jump and can barely get their nose above the surface. It's like dragging an old boot to the boat.  I don't think they'll move more than a few inches to grab the bait. At least that's what it seems to be.  Time for me to get all the projects done around the house so they won't interfere with next year's fishing season. Mike2841 Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 The hookset one is smaller than the one in foxboro, but for some reason I like it better. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there if you're closer to the foxboro one unless you just want to go there to check it out. Also anyone hear anything about the cabelas that's supposed to be coming to ma Quote
BR1AN Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I'm in haverhill right on the border of NH so the hooksett one is prob like 25 mins or so. Haven't heard anything about cabelas 1 Quote
massrob Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I can't believe how much I miss fishing it's really an addiction it's all I can think about. I actually went to a pond just to looK at it. I'm going to bass pro this weekend and I think I'm gonna spend a g probably my whole paycheck and I don't even care I rather have new fishing stuff than eat food. Hahaha 1 Quote

Super User DogBone_384 Posted December 23, 2014 Super User Posted December 23, 2014 Was bored at home today so I tossed a B/C I'm taking to FL this week and a light spinning reel in the truck and went to Houghton's Pond to try out the PQ I just got back from DVT.  I spent most of the time just casting to get the B/C set up, but managed to map out about 1/3 of the accessible shoreline with my Sonarphone.  To my surprise it averages 10' in reachable areas and drops to 20' in the South/South-West corner near what Google Maps calls Coon Hollow Brook.  I also wasn't alone.  There was a guy trout fishing with trout worms & a bobber.  He said he caught a nice one but had to cut the line and it got away from him.  One of those things that applicable to my Grandfather's saying "believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see".  I congratulated him, wished him good luck and Merry Christmas and continued mapping the pond. He said he's had good luck there for trout, but I didn't have any trout snacks, or bobbers, so I'll hit it next time.  Long story longer, the PQ I just got back didn't gain any noticeable casting distance, but feels much smoother and gets its distance with little or no braking.   Merry Christmas to everyone. Super User DogBone_384 Posted December 24, 2014 Super User Posted December 24, 2014 The Plaza wasn't crowded this morning so I had some time to take a jar of Powerbaits, a couple of bobbers, and my light spinning rig to Houghton's Pond. Â Stayed for an hour or so without success. Â Stopped by St. Moritz on the way home and snagged a Pickerel with a small, yellow spinner. Â Good enough for Christmas Eve Day.... Quote
BR1AN Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 $200 bass pro card was my highlight today! Merry Christmas!! Quote
