Siebert Outdoors Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 well it is memphis in may weekend.......the locals know what that means 4inches+. Sounds like april-may here. Monday-Thursday its 70/50 degrees. Fridays cold front temps drop and rains. We keep that pattern until June. 1 Quote
Brian Needham Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 By Memphis in May weekend , I am talking about Music Fest weekend. Seems without fail it rains that week and you have to wade in MUD to go see your choosen bands. either way you are spot on about the weather pattern, I really dont think we have had more than 2 really fishable weekends. Friday cold fronts for 3 months it seems. Of course from the tales of last Pickwick trip.....It didnt stop Big O from catching over 100 smalljaws. I'm pumped rain or shine. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted April 12, 2013 Super User Posted April 12, 2013 Let it rain, let it rain, let it rain. The last time we were at Pickwick, Nashville was shut down. I - 40 was shut down. It was a deluge, to put it mildly. But it didn't hinder the fishing. In fact, I like rainy days for fishing. Fewer fishermen, fewer pleasure boaters, fewer jet skis. What's not to like about the rain? I've got two sets of foul weather gear on the boat, both extra large, one for me, one for a guest, if needed. Quote
Brian Needham Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 rhino........what is "good rain gear" without breaking the bank? I know frabill and Sims make great suit but are pricy.....I got a cheaper FrogToggs set, I hope if I ever really have to use it, it will do its job. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted April 12, 2013 Super User Posted April 12, 2013 I like the Field and Stream at Dicks. When they are on sale, they can be had for 75 dollars. My only gripe is that I'd prefer the bib overall style. The regular pant style tends to creep down and you can end up with a wet butt. Suspenders would take care of that. I just keep hoisting 'em up. I bought a second set a couple of years ago just in case someone with me didn't have or bring their own. I'm still on the first set. The jacket has a zipper and snaps. No problems with them and they are five years old. Just went to Dicks and they still have Field and Stream, but they show them as separate items, pants and jacket, not the set. A lot more expensive.\ The Frog Togs should work fine. Quote

Standard Frog Toggs will keep you dry for about 4 hours of constant rain. The FT Toad Skins are good for about 6. I have both and have fished in some nasty stuff and stayed dry most of the day. Quote

My first experience with this was in a heavy rain; you could tell exactly where I made contact with the seat - my clothes were soaked to my skin - but only where I made contact with the seat, the rest of me was dry.
