lazeebum Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 There is plenty of shopping. If she likes golf, several public courses in the area. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted March 1, 2013 Super User Posted March 1, 2013 I'm not saying that I would be able to make it, but I still have a question. Is there any point trying to come if you don't have a boat? There is always room in someones boat. Quote
Traveler2586 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Are the wives going and if so, will there be something other than fishing for them to do? Sorry if this has been covered, I'm not going thru 22 pages to find the answer Got some bad news from the doc today. Looks like I may not be going back to work for awhile, possibly a long while. So there may be a good chance I'll be open to partake in the festivities. Dam* that's bad news; take care, and do what the doc says. Be careful of what you do while on sick leave; the trip to Pickwick and all that fishin' might be too much for that tired, warn out, beat up, old body of yours... Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted March 1, 2013 Super User Posted March 1, 2013 Shiloh National Park is a HUGE attraction: http://www.nps.gov/shil/index.htm If the weather cooperates, the State Park has a beautiful sand beach and protected swimming. A golf course is immediately adjacent to the park. Tennis is on premise. Hundreds of miles of hiking trails. Pontoon rental and the Pickwick Queen Riverboat. Quote
Brian Needham Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 anyone else notice there is a Everstart tourney out of Florance, AL the same dates. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted March 2, 2013 Super User Posted March 2, 2013 anyone else notice there is a Everstart tourney out of Florance, AL the same dates. There's nothing we can do about it, other than to refuse to allow some self-important tournament angler to move you off your spot. Quote
lazeebum Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 There should still be plenty of water to fish. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted March 2, 2013 Super User Posted March 2, 2013 There should still be plenty of water to fish. PLENTY!!! And Florence is a good way away from where we are putting in! Jeff Quote
Brian Needham Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 PLENTY!!! And Florence is a good way away from where we are putting in! Jeff fo sho!!! I just found it interesting more than anything........I doubt many would even make the run that far north. lol 50k acres is A LOT of water. Quote
lazeebum Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 There will be some that will make the run. But from what I saw the last time the Road Trip was at Pickwick, BR members caught plenty of fish. I went the same weekend and caught plenty. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted March 2, 2013 Super User Posted March 2, 2013 60 Days away! It's getting close!!! Jeff Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted March 3, 2013 Super User Posted March 3, 2013 There was a big pro tournament the last time we fished Pickwick, and there was no problem. No one holds "reservations" on any part of the water for fishing. It's like any other day on the water, first come, first served on the fishing grounds. I do recommend giving the pros who are fishing an area a wide berth out of courtesy. Having said that, if I'm catching fish in an area and a pro comes along, I ain't budging an inch. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted March 3, 2013 Super User Posted March 3, 2013 60 Days away! It's getting close!!! Jeff Make that 55 days until I'm on the water at Pickwick. If I'm going to make a 2400 mile plus, round trip, towing a boat, I'm going to fish as many days as possible. The round trip travel is a fixed expense whether I fish five days or ten days. Better to "amortize" that cost of 800 dollars for fuel over ten days rather than over five days. Quote

I feel that way for tournaments in general, but if it's a big time event I would concede the spot out of respect. Quote
scrutch Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 What's a honeymoon? It's the period of time following a wedding, 'til the excitement wears off. I know what a honeymoon is, when it starts, but I don't know when it ends. AWWWW. Tom was your wife looking over your shoulder when you wrote this? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 3, 2013 Super User Posted March 3, 2013 35 pound sack won yesterday out of Wilson. 29 lbs out of jp Coleman and 21 out of McFarland. Big fish being caught right now on Pickwick and Wilson Quote
lazeebum Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 And it was snowing here yesterday! I am chomping at the bit to get back out! I installed a new depth finder yesterday, so I was waiting on the silicone to dry. I had the grand kids today. While I did not get to fish today, I did manage to teach some basketball and spinning reel lessons. Quote
