BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted December 2, 2012 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted December 2, 2012 WOW! We've got fourteen confirmed attendees, and we are still six months away! This could turn out to be the biggest turn-out in Road Trip history! Mike, Nicole and I are coming. Made the cabin reservations today. Soon as I can get the scanner thing figured out I will get you our forms. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted December 3, 2012 Super User Posted December 3, 2012 The following is a list of questions PM'd to me by Brian Needham. I thought it would be appropriate to share this info with potential Road Trip attendees. My responses are in blue. Brian, to begin with, I was in your shoes six years ago when I made my first BR Road Trip. I was a newbie to bass fishing, and to BR, and didn't yet own a boat. Like you, I had never met any of folks that were attending. To make a long story short, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and have never missed another Road Trip. Now to answer your questions. How does fishing work during the trip? Are we all on our own, do members pair up? Share patterns? Pickwick is pretty big, lol. do we all launch at the same time in the morning as a group or everyone dop their own thing? To begin with, this is not a tournament. It's just a bunch of folks who enjoy the fishing and camaraderie. We will probably have a "biggest bass" contest, but there is no entry fee and is pretty much on the honor system. Everyone does their own thing when fishing. They launch when they want and where they want. As for pairings, every evening I do my best to pair everyone up for the next day. NO ONE is left standing on the bank. how does lodging work, do we tell you if we require a room? Do we get paired up for rooms with other members? It is the responsibility of each individual to arrange their own accommodations. We have blocked all the cabins and a number of rooms at the lodge for BR members, but reservations must be made by you. Stay active on the Road Trip forum and post from time to time that you are looking for a roommate. It always works out. what are the nightly activities, as I have seen videos of speakers in the past. When does that happen? Almost every evening one or more of us will cook for the group. RW and I usually cook hamburgers. Alpster usually does some sort of cajun dish. We pass the hat and ask for a $5.00 contribution from each member to help defray our costs. On one of the evenings (yet to be determined) we will have our "banquet." This is when we have our speaker(s.) Dinner is on you. where, when and for what do we send money for? You don't send money for anything. 1 Quote
Brian Needham Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 thanks Long Mike! I almost posted the questions here, as I figured other attendees might have the same questions. I might just make a point to come this year, being so close and all. I always wanted to fish pickwick, just never drove the 2 hours..... which is good, been putting off buying spare tire for the trailer, lol. Quote
Brian Needham Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Just reserved my room at the inn for may 1-5 (gotta leave Sunday night) Who wants to prefish? Lol Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 3, 2012 Super User Posted December 3, 2012 Is the whole lake smallie water or just certain sections? Although smallmouth are caught randomly throughout the river system, there are certain areas that tend to be better for targeting smallmouth. We will talk about it openly at Pickwick, but not here on the open forum. I share my spots with friends and BR members, but they're still somewhat private. More generally, the main target on the lake will be largemouth. More double digit bass have been caught this year that in all other years combined. A new State Record (14-8) was claimed, but not documented. Here is another fish that did not qualify: http://www.chattanoogan.com/2009/10/22/161452/New-Tennessee-State-Record-Bass-caught.aspx Spring lures and techniques are pretty generic. Actually, almost everything works around here that time of year. Two years ago on the RoadTrip I had a 78 fish day throwing mostly a Sworming Hornet/ LFT Live Magic Shad. My partner did extremely well with a KVD Red Eye Shad. Big O and our two soldiers caught 144 smallmouth during the deluge on day 1, including two PBs! Some of those fish were caught on Red Eye Shad, but the vast majority on Rage Tail Baby Craws. If you are interested in hiring a guide, do it now. Roger Stegall is VERY well regarded, but in high demand, especially in May. I will post a list of some other lake guides here shortly. If you are interested in fishing for stripers on the river, Speedy Madewell is The Man. 1 Quote

Brian Needham Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 yeah RW, those numbers have my head spinning for sure. My mouth is watering for hungry bass especially if we can catch em on rage craws/jigs. 6 months away and I am already HIGHLY pumped for my 1st BR road trip. If I catch 10 in a day I feel like Bill Dance , LOL. I have heard nothing but good about Pickwick, and since I am basiclly in Memphis , I should have gone long time ago. Quote
Simp Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Last time we caught a hundred fish per day no joke. I doubt that will happen again but it's a special place to me. Best week of my life last time I'd say. Quote

Super User Nitrofreak Posted December 12, 2012 Super User Posted December 12, 2012 Is there a time limit on this trip? What I am asking I guess, is there a cut off date to get in with you guy's ? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 12, 2012 Super User Posted December 12, 2012 No, but we have reserved all of the cabins and several hotel rooms for BassResource members. This expires April 1st. If the State Park Lodge is filled, there will still be accomodations available off-premise. http://www.bassresource.com/pickwick/lake-pickwick-info.html Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Is there a time limit on this trip? What I am asking I guess, is there a cut off date to get in with you guy's ? I hope you can make it Nitro!!! Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted December 12, 2012 Super User Posted December 12, 2012 I hope you can make it Nitro!!! Dude !!! I am trying so hard it's killing me lol !! I would love nothing more than to come down there and share some good times and some great memories with all of you !!!! RW, I had seen the campgrounds and stuff there from the original post link that you provided, thanx a bunch for doing that by the way. I do not know if it will all pan out yet but it's going to be a last minute trip I feel, so do you or anyone else know how full the campgrounds stay and how far ahead I need to make a reservation for the campground? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 12, 2012 Super User Posted December 12, 2012 In addition to the State Park there is a TVA campground below the dam, just five minutes away. Camping, or for that matter, lodging in general, will not be an issue. Quote

Super User Fishing Rhino Posted December 12, 2012 Super User Posted December 12, 2012 Is there a time limit on this trip? What I am asking I guess, is there a cut off date to get in with you guy's ? If you don't make it, I'll have to stop by and box your ears. I go right through Harrisonburg on I-81. If all goes according to plan, I'll be sailing through between seven and nine on Friday morning. If I'm not man enough, Traveller is hooking up with me in Strasburg, but if need be, I'm sure he won't mind driving a few miles north to help me pursuade you to change your mind. Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted December 12, 2012 Super User Posted December 12, 2012 LMAO !!! Box my ears huh LOL !!! Rhino, maybe you and I can try to box our ears, but since Traveler is meeting up with you, he knows too many men in black suites for me to take him on, so I will leave you with a promise, I promise to find a way to get there, but I can not see into the future, family is always first so if it works out I will be there and I look forward to shaking your hand sir !!! As you travel 81 South, when you get to mile marker 256 or 255 I can't remember, you will travel through an underpass, look to your left and you will see a big brick home first, to the right of that house will be a light yellow house, that will be me, I will already be at work but at least when you see the house you know that I will be thinking about you guys, If I am not already there to meet ya in Tenn. BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted December 27, 2012 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted December 27, 2012 Ok guys, here it is.....the long awaited 2012 RoadTrip video!! Yes, I know it's way late, but had a lot of technical issues with it. First my computer wouldn't play some of the submitted videos, then the video editing software I use wouldn't export the final edited video...then it froze up whenever I opened the project. So I did a lot of repair work on my computer, even uninstalling and reinstalling the editing software.....to no avail. Finally I broke down and upgraded the editing software, and it worked - but I still had to re-edit the video all over again! Finally, it's finished! Apologies for the delay. http://www.bassresou...ville-2012.html Enjoy! Glenn Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted December 27, 2012 Super User Posted December 27, 2012 Awesome Glenn! Thank you! Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted December 27, 2012 Super User Posted December 27, 2012 It's like finding another gift under the tree this morning. But no picture of my personal best drum? Quote
BassnChris Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 That did absolutely NOTHING for my cabin fever! Except stoke the fire. How could anyone watch that video and not want to go this year? Great job on the video. See ya'll there! Quote
