Super User roadwarrior Posted August 19, 2012 Super User Posted August 19, 2012 Well, the TN license is the most economical, but AL is much broader. Quote
zip pow Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Sounds like its going to be an awesome trip I'll have an Al license if Jeff or RW get me below the dam I'll be glad to purchase the Tn guess well have to see how the trip pans out looking forward to seeing everyone again Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 23, 2012 Super User Posted August 23, 2012 We'll see how things are going, but in the spring there is no particular advantage below the dam unless you are targeting stripers. The smallmouth "action" you hear so much about is below Wilson, not Pickwick. If that's hot, we might make a day trip up there with anyone that's interested. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I'm hoping I can make it again. Especially since its at Pickwick. This is one lake I've always wanted to fish. Quote

Super User .ghoti. Posted August 25, 2012 Super User Posted August 25, 2012 Hey Mike. When will we be able to download the registration forms? It's gonna take me a while to top last year's version. LOL Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted August 26, 2012 Super User Posted August 26, 2012 Gary, the registration forms will be available shortly, but they can be accessed only by a password, which the member must PM me to get. I will give you the password at 11:59 PM, the day before we are due to arrive. Quote

riskkid 2 Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Hope Pickwick will be more productive in May than it was yesterday (I'm sure it will be). We fished various spots from Bear Creek down to the dam. Caught several fish (including a few smallies) but no size to them. The success we had was on docks and using topwater early around weeds. Some fish are beginning to school around the mouths of pockets and creeks (we caught a few small ones here). We spent way too much time searching ledges, didn't find much of anything. I am thinking this would have been better up lake where it seems to be shallower but without an Alabama license it was not an option. A friend fished up lake between Waterloo and the Bridge and fared much better just beating the banks. For those who are in the process of deciding whether or not to come, don't waste any time, just decide to make the trip!! It was my first time to fish it and although we had limited success it is evident it is a great fishery. Water is much clearer than I anticipated but that makes sense due to the large smallmouth population, deeper water etc.. It is indeed clearer than KY Lake or Guntersville and is or at least seems deeper in general even though it is part of the same Tennessee River chain. It's a beautiful lake with some homes that definetly made me envious. Ya'll just need to make plans to attend!!! Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted August 26, 2012 Super User Posted August 26, 2012 The powers that be have provided plenty of time for planning to make it. I've fished the last three road trips to Pickwick, Kentucky/Barclay, and Guntersville. Pickwick was definitely my favorite, though anywhere the gang goes is fine by me. The opportunity to meet members and to establish bonds among them is far and away the most important part of the trip. Novice to seasoned pro, it's a great time for all, and a great learning experience. Nothing like comparing notes and sharing knowlege on the water. If you enjoy the forum, you'll love the road trip. BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted September 8, 2012 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted September 8, 2012 Put Nicole and I on the list. We will be there this year. Quote
Scorcher214 Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 The only thing that could stop me from making this trip is if I get an apprenticeship with the boilermakers between now and the trip. Otherwise, there's no way I could miss it. I've already told my boss about it Letting him know I will be taking those days off! Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted September 14, 2012 Super User Posted September 14, 2012 Just a reminder guys, the cut-off date for reservations is March 1. After that date all cabins and hotel rooms will be released to the general public. There are only ten cabins and we have blocked them all. They each have four double beds, and will sleep four heterosexual adults comfortably. At $104 plus tax Sun. thru Thurs. and $120 plus tax on Fri./Sat. they are a steal. With four guys splitting the cost, you couldn't get that rate at a Motel 6. Quote
J-B Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Hey all. Sorry that I have been a stranger for a while. I have been unemployed. Still trying to find a good job. If I finally get one I plan on being there. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 We are in. Only stipulation is May 4th is the bosses birthday. So we will have to celebrate! Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted September 19, 2012 Super User Posted September 19, 2012 In response to a question asked of me via PM, the CABINS rent for $104/$120 a day. The rate is not a "per person" rate. The more people you can stack in the cabin, the cheaper it gets for each. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted September 19, 2012 Super User Posted September 19, 2012 You can have five persons with each having their own bed, provided someone sleeps on the couch. Even more if you bring a mattress for the floor, or cots. Just keep in mind there is only one bathroom, so there might be a waiting line for the shower or the porcelain throne from time to time. lynyrdsky1 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 IM GOING FiNALLY!!!!! Got a boat and I'll be out of school and it's only 2 hours from me count me in. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted September 24, 2012 Super User Posted September 24, 2012 Just another little teaser from Pickwick and hopefully some fuel for the ones still on the fence. Today we caught 30 bass. They were keyed in on shad. Find the bait balls working their ways into the backs of the coves and find the fish. Catch a couple then find the next bait ball. Shad imitators were key. Lots of fun. Only 3 were smallies though. The day before there was good water generating through the dam and my fishing partner drifted below the dam. Said the only problem was lack of good sized bait, but they managed around 20 bass, with ALL BEING SPOTS OR SMALLIES. Couple good days on Pickwick and a couple pics for eye candy..... Jeff Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted October 2, 2012 Super User Posted October 2, 2012 of course its during finals week! We tried to plan when nothing is going on, but sometimes it can't be helped. Are your finals later than most? Jeff Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted October 2, 2012 Super User Posted October 2, 2012 SAC2 we can't please everyone. Our reservations have to be planned a year in advance in order to secure the rooms. Sorry you can't make it. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 I need to quite reading this thread for a few months. Quote
