Super User Catt Posted December 15, 2009 Super User Posted December 15, 2009 Mustad Straight Shank Denny Brauer Flipping Hook up to the size of a 6" Senko at which time I switch to a Strike King Saber Point Round Bend Offset. Quote
NewKidInTown Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 I am currently using the eagle claw lazer sharp wide gap worm hook in 3/0 size. I have heard mixed reviews on these and was thinking about switching to something else. I really like the size of this hook, it is a good match for most of the plastics I use. However, I don't think they are all that sharp and they certainly get dull after some use. What should I try? I have been using Owner hooks just about exclusivelyBut, I do like Gamakatsu in certain styles also. I do not like the standard Gamakatsu EWG,too much flex for my taste, stick with the Superlines. What I do like from Gamakatsu are the G-Lock's. As far as my standard worm hook,I use the Owner J,and for the Tubes where I need that extra room, I go to the Owner Wide Gap Plus. Also check out the Owner Ultra Heads, love them! Quote
MyKeyBe Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 What should I try? These. Lunker City Texposer's. Great hooks for the money. Try one, you'll like it! Quote
angler1 Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Owner EWG ultra point. I like thembecause the hook point has a flat top. I use sizes 1/0 through 3/0. Quote
TimJ Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 If I'm flipping, I have a Brute Tru-Turn tied on. With other plastics, I'm using TT and EWGs. I don't mind taking the time to keep them sharp since the TTs aren't a "high-tech" point. TJ Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Single hooks:Gamakatsu Owner XPoint Mustad Treble hooks: VMC Gamakatsu 8-) Yup but throw Mustad Triple grips in there too. Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted December 17, 2009 Super User Posted December 17, 2009 Old school Tru Turns....yeah you can watch them rust and you occasionally have to dress the points up but they are some fish stickin' mutha's.....and they're cheap. I wish I had a dollar for every fish I've caught on these things over the last twenty years Quote
The Bassinator Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 I've never had a problem with eagle claw hooks and I mostly use straight shank worm hooks unless its a thick plastic like a stickbait or a tube then I'll use EWG Quote
