Ok guys, I am saying "F it" and using St Croix's trade up program to upgrade my plastics rod. I am currently using a 6'8" Mojo bass with a pflueger pres. Xt on it ( spinning set-up). I know I want another 6' 8" rod with an extra fast tip, but I need increases sensitivity over the Mojo. I am currently torn between the Mojo and Legend tournament. I like the price of the avid, but the split grip has me looking at the legend. Is the legend REALLY worth the extra 50-60 dollars?

Once you get to that price point a lot of the differences are pretty slight. Personally I prefer a split grip for my "feel" baits like what you're getting the rod for. I like the guides on the LTB better too. I don't know if the LTB is going to be any more sensitive but personally I prefer the LTB, and personal preference is really what it should come down to for you in this case. You can't go wrong either way really though.

I wish I could like the rage series.... Obviously the blank is nice. I actually like the way the handle feels, too. It is the guides... Those d**n dirty guides... That I can't get around. For 150 bucks, they should at least give you the Batson forecast guides with alumunum oxide inserts like the MOJO and premier. Even ugly sticks have better inserts.

Go for the LTB since it's on your radar, otherwise you'll be wishing you had.

X2, so many times I made purchases based on price only to sell it to buy what I really wanted to begin with.

i have a 6'3" mxf avid and a 6'9" mlxf ltb, at first i liked the avid better, but it turns out it was just a lack of use with the ltb (both rods are used for the same purpose, jig/minnow and jig/plastics for walleyes and smallies)... i used the ltb exlusively for a while this spring and have fallen in love with this rod, and i would definately go ltb over an avid. the avid is a terrific rod, but to me, the ltb is more sensitive, and with a patriarch 9530 it balances very well (plus is there a better color match rod/reel out there?!)

i will eventually upgrade my avid to a LTWS 63 mxf, just a matter of time now. i would say that yes the LTB is really worth the extra cash.

Alright... LTB it is. I had a premier for sale on the flea market that got no responses. I never use it anymore and as it turns out it is only 3 years old. I should get 70-80 dollars on the trade in. After figuring that out and listening to responses, The LTB now seems like a no brainer. And I am putting a Pflueger Patriarch on it... Just a size 35. I'm a big guy, so I like the feel of larger reels.

I looked for that trade in you're talking about and can't find anything about it. Do you have a website or link for it? I've got a couple Premiers and a few Mojos I'd like to upgrade if they'll give me a good trade in on them.

I have a mix of both, there's not much difference between the two lines. LTB's "fast" and "X-fast" are a little faster. They are a little lighter as well. Both are "picky" about what reel feels "right," or maybe I'm just picky. Either way, you're getting a solid rod.

This is good iformation and I agree with it totally. The difference is going to be in cosmetics, components, and a different feel not sensitivity but overall feel. Sort of like the difference between a GL3 Loomis and an IMX, the sensitivity is really close and on the SJR series I prefer the GL3 because I like the handle and feel of it over the IMX. The same type of deal here, if you like the feel of a split grip you'll got for the LTB but if a full crip is preferred then the Avid is the rod. Either way you go it is going to be a significant difference from what you got going on now.

Yea... After fishing the mojo for 3 seasons, I have gotten used to the split grip throwing plastics. It doesn't feel the same using a full grip on my finesse rod. I also do like the blue LTB blank. I was also informed by Dan at St. Croix that they are running a deal right now. If you upgrade to a Legend series rod, you get 30 days after that to purchase other legend series rods at 20% off. I am only buying the upgrade rod. I might have a decent job, but I am not making heart surgeon bankroll! However, I am talking to a few friends to see if they would like me to order a rod for them so they can take advantage of the discount.

JerzeeD, you won't be disappointed with the LTB, I have both the Avid in a 6'6" MF and the LTB "teaser" rod. The avid is light and sensitive, but there is quite a difference in feel and components when you hit the LTB. It's kind of like the jump from GL2 or mossy back to IMX, I would say the IMX is slightly (notice i said slightly) more sensitive and lighter than the SCIV graphite the LTB uses. The Teaser rod works for just about any technique, but excels at finess and weightless applications. good luck and have fun with it!

Will do! Thanks guys. As for using the "right" reel, I am going to be using a Pflueger patriarch in 35 size on it. I don't foresee any disappointment using this reel. I have Pflueger supreme, medalist, president, and president xt on all my other St. Croix rods with no regrets in regards to performance and reliability.
