Hey guys,

I'm looking into buying one of these Baitcasting rods. I do mostly jigging and Bigger Worm fishing, and wanted to know which rods you guys recommend. These rods are highly recommend and I wanted to give one a try.

They have these series of rods for Baitcasting.

Savvy

Champion

Extreme Champion

Thanks,

I loved my 735c champion before I broke it, I broke it in a boat cleat so it was totally my fault not the rods, and i just ordered a 734c to replace it i went one power down because it was a very stout rod i still loved it and plan on getting another one but I wanted a more versatile rod right now.

That's awesome. Sucks the rod broke though! Thanks for the comment!

Love the rod action, but I have popped many guide inserts though, more than any other rod I have owned.

FWIW, I think the Dobyns 735C is THE definitive bass fishing rod. I have a pile of baitcast setups, but truth be told I could do about 90% of my fishing with a 735C. It excels at toads and jigs, as it has a very strong backbone with relatively soft tip.

How heavy a cover? My first reaction is that you'll want a 4-power rod, 704/734/744. Obviously, feel is important for those techniques, so I'd recommend you at least get the Champion series

i had a champion 735c but sold it tuesday. the tip on that was waay too soft for a med hvy powered rod and it cost me too many fish even when throwin that knock out hookset. bought a powell 753c, 2 inches longer but same action and med hvy rating, took it out tuesday and today and brought every fish to the boat. ill stick with powell rods, best rod for the money imo. now thats not sayin dobyns arent good but they are a bit over priced and over rated imo. id like to know just exactly what makes the champion and champion extreme rods sell for 249 and 349 a piece cus i dont see it and surely didnt feel it.

I'm going to go against the grain a little bit here and recommend the 764 Champion. I love this rod and it's versatility!

My Savvy series 663C MHF rod is great, light and powerful, seems to work with bigger worms just fine. Quality built rods at great prices, just wish they were built in the US and not Korea. If you get one have fun with it! tight lines! - Alex

If you have the option of all 3 and no price point then any mh extreme will suit you fantastic.

Jigs and bigger worms? DX 744 and 745 depending on the cover you're in and the lure weights you'll be throwing.
