Spinnerbait Trailers

hey guys i love using spinnerbaits and recently discovered using my number one producing swim bait for saltwater bass (big hammers) as a trailer for swim baits and i think they look awesome havent got to use it yet but when i get back to bama ill defiantly be using it for the largies, let me know what you think or if you too have used something like this, also what do you guys use as trailers if anything and should i use a trailer hook with these heres some pictures of a few of them these are the only colors i have right now that kinda match if the work out im planning on getting colors to mach almost all my spinnerbaits

will do! im gunna be back in bama in 2 weeks and give these things a real test if they dont produce because i know spinnerbaits produce there then i know it will be the trailers ill let you guys kniow any ideas on trailer hooks?

I will sometimes use the back half of used lizards to trail my spinners with. Recycle!

ok i always use a red trailer hook . I read where you put on the trailer first then the hook with a stop to keep it from falling off.

My qrestion is will the trailer get tangled wlth the hook ?

Try the Netbait Dirt Dog. Tackle warehouse sells them.And the action is very cool with them little paddle tails.

I use a split-tail trailer or a 4" grub mostly. But I also still use an Uncle Josh #11 pork frog quite a bit when I want a bigger profile.

To me a trailer is something not everyone thinks they should use. Me i just put a red hook eith a piece of plastic tube around the eye so it dont jingle around. Ive never had a trailer tangle with my other hook and i veru rarley use anything else on it. The few times i will put a pork rind on is if im going to let my soinner helicopter down and let it rest on the bottom for a minute, the little fins or whatever kind of float up a lil and it kinda mimiks a crawfish. When i dont add anything to it i trim my skirt a lil bot so if i dont use a trailer i very rarely have to worry about the bass short striking the spinner. Ive always had success with a trailer with kothing on it but its also personal preference. Try everything and see what works best for you. Good luck and tight lines!

I like a long "whippy" tail on my spinner-baits, so I use the back half of a 7.5" Culprit ribbon-tail worm. I shorten the "body" to match the shank/hook size of the spinner-bait. Use 'em all the way down to my 1/8oz. spinner-baits! I don't ever have an issues with short strikes/needing a trailer hook.

IMHO, I think the longer, thin tail focuses the strike on the "head"... where the hook is. Your mileage may vary... but this works for me...

Tabu Tiny Tim's for small spinnerbaits and RageTail Grubs for everything else. As I learned from a local guide around here, adding a trailer to your spinnerbaits gives the fish a better way to tell what's the 'head' and what's the 'tail' of the bait. Since he started using trailers (just a long curly grub) he hasn't had any short strikes.

I like using a Gene Larew Salt Craw. You can trim it as necessary for the size of the hook on the SB. They are packed with salt and usually get really hard strikes. Also been foolin' around with Tiki Crawdudes. The scent in those things is awesome.
