Idk of many quarries with big bass in it but I know of a few spots that have some good sized large and small mouth in it. The mouth of oak orchard and lake Ontario is a great spot at the yacht club, 4 Cs marina, and by three bridges area flipping the docks and cat tails. need a boat for that though you can fish the yacht club and 3 bridges without one but its tough if there's anyone else there before you. Lake Alice is another spot that's got some decent sized fish i caught my PB there but it was 2 years ago and sense then iv been in a slump on that lake but know there there i just been missing them. Then there's what i call the Walmart pond in Albion its a pond across the street from Walmart and its loaded with big bass that no one fishes for. if u have a canoe or something its best but u can fish the whole ting from shore just takes longer walking around it and threw the hedgerow to get to some spots but its definitely worth it.

I, too, am a shore-bound angler in Lancaster and am always looking for an out of the way place to get after some fish. I've fished Bird Island Pier and Squaw Island (ponds and Black Rock canal) and am tired of catching tiny fish. I've had some luck along Ellicott Creek within Ellicot Creek Park off the Blvd.

this walmart pond in Medina sounds intriguing. I looked it up on Google maps and it looks sweet. I imagine it's private property though. ever had an issue with access?

its in Albion but its not private property iv never had an issue other then limited space that's why I started working the thick hedgerow or bringing my canoe. Like I said though its not private never had an issue I mean don't be stupid and baha your truck threw the farmers field like iv seen people do and heard about it later(friends with the farmers in the area) and every things good. If you make it out there and catch some post up pics there's some monsters in there. Also if you have waders or dont mind wet feet walk out to the point there's a big rock you can stand on and cast from and reach spots you cant get to from the bank its on the inside of the "u" cant miss it then the rock is maybe 15 feet out slants to the left and drops off deep right in front of it so don't slip lol.

I bought an inflatable boat, customized it with wood floor etc.. Is there a spot where I can launch the inflatable at the pond in Albion? What other spots would be good with an inflatable?

yeah you can launch it easily there out on the point there in the middle or on the eastern side of that point

Might check.this place out.tomorrow. pretty far ride from Lancaster but it sounds like it.might be worth it. Questions, would I have to.carry the boat far to launch it? Is it very weedy or shallow? Thanks

no its not far of a carry 50yards at most depending where you park if you park on the right side of the pond its a short walk. The middle by that point can become pretty weedy but most of its deep open water. From lancaster its about 45 minutes depending which way you go transit obviosly the slowest biggest pain in the arse lol. Back roads can cut time if you know where your going and dont get lost, then theres the 90 and you pay an arm and a leg to drive 20 miles to either pembroke exit or batavia(closest and easiest) another good spot i didnt even think of is the alabama swamps cant canoe or boat though its on the reservation.

I've yet to make up to this pond in Albion. It is a hike and by the time my kids are in bed, half my night's gone so waiting for a good time when the wife (and kids) are busy to sneak away.

Anyway, as to your question about other spots with an inflatable...I frequently fish the ponds in Squaw Island Park adjacent to Black Rock canal by the river. I have a float tube and have been wanting to try it there (It's probably 15 acres) but like I said, I'm usually out at night and not too comfy floating at night. I'd certainly give it a try if I were you.

How's the fishing at that pond? Bass? Pike? What size thanks for the suggestion

There are definitely bass in there. Pulled a 3-lbr out of there the other night. Carp as well cruising around. I've heard there are pike but have yet to see/catch one. If the pond bite isn't on, you a 30-second walk from the canal (good rock bass, panfish area) and another couple minutes from the river to try for the odd walleye, etc.

I just took a drive by the Walmart pond in Albion, looks BASSY.... The only problem is, I don't see any flat wide spots where I can carry in and blow up my inflatable raft, also theres not many spots to fish on land, maybe a 1 man spot and another spot for about 2-3 people. I would REALLY like to take out the raft but I think it would be VERY Tough setting it up there... Might try Alice lake for the first time in the morning, is there alot of big boats in Alice that causes waves? Maybe a question for Clayton. Thanks

ur best bet would be set up the raft in the field or side of the road then lift it over the railing and set it in. next best spot would be on the back side where theres a little drainage for the fields on the walmart side theres a flat there depending on the water level some times its big some times ur standing in ankle deep water. Lake Alice has some big boats that like to make waves and alot of jet skiers but they tend to stay on the main part between then launch and second bridge on kenyonville road. if u go up the river across from the ramp ur safe and theres alot of docks and deep edges iv caught some great fish there then the far wast end past the second bridge is good lots of stumps and weeds loaded with bass and pike but even on a full size boat its a 5-10minute ride from the ramp. i can post more tonight after shift maybe a map lay out also
