angler1 Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 What lure, whether it was artifical or live bait, have you caught your largest fish on. Give a good description of what you used if it was an artifical. We are all from different places on the map so a little detail would not give away your "secret lure or color". How wuch did it weigh. Mine was a 4lb 14oz largemouth caught on a 3/8 oz. Chatterbait with a black and blue skirt with a black 4" Mr. Twister split double tail grub trailer. Quote
aarogb Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Mine would be a 7.4 LMB. Didn't post it on here because I hit the "END" button on my phone before I saved the picture!!! (I think I won the dummy of the year award for doing that!!) Anyway, I caught it on a Lucky Craft G-Splash in ghost blue shad color fishing the edge of some matted grass in about 4' of water. Quote
guitarkid Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 It was the last cast of the day, I just made a random cast from the shore across this big flat with a chartreuse and white shad looking booyah spinnerbait and pulled in a 23" largemouth bass. I have since retired the lure and have it hanging off of a thumbtack on my wall. -gk Quote

Super User David P Posted November 10, 2009 Super User Posted November 10, 2009 13lbs3oz - Caught it on a 1/2oz jig that I made myself, with a beaver trailer. Quote
Stringjam Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 8lb 7oz . . . caught on a homemade spinnerbait (white w/white willows). Actually caught four bass over 8 lbs that weekend on my home lake and have never experienced anything like that again there. Must have been something freaky going on in the cosmos those couple of days. Quote
Super User Catt Posted November 10, 2009 Super User Posted November 10, 2009 I replay it in mind often February 3rd 2007 was a nasty cold morning with Northwest winds at 15-20 mph, a slight misty rain falling, and temperatures in the middle 30's. After having launched out of Jack's 944 Marina I made the short (2 minutes) run to the mouth of Bull creek trying to stay out of the wind and some what warm. Having rounded the corner I dropped the trolling motor, picked up my Rat-L-Trap rod again with the thought in mind of keeping moving and staying warm. My third cast was into the mouth a cut leading to a boat shed which I knew had stumps on the west side, after turning the handle 4 or 5 times my trap stopped solid, I tell Pat d**n to close to the stumps so I push the trolling motor handle towards the mouth of the cut while stepping on the switch. At the exact same instance my line starts zinging towards deeper water rod all bowed up & drag slipping; I immediately scream at Pat get the net. By now the boat is moving off to my left the bass is moving off to my right and I'm nearly on my knees in front of the console with the upper third of the rod in the water. Pat net in hand is now on the front deck killed the trolling motor and with a swift motion netted the hawg; which ends up weighing in at 12 pounds 8 ounces. Quote
Brute Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Nice story Catt. Mine is much less dramatic. 5 lb 8 oz caught on a watermelon/red Horny Toad. Man I love a good topwater bite. Brute Quote
Super User Shane J Posted November 10, 2009 Super User Posted November 10, 2009 Speaking of a good topwater bite, mine came on a Rage Tail Shad, in green pumpkin/chartreuse, rigged on a 5/0 owner Twistlock hook, 12 lb mono line. I was fishing this little pond near my house early in the morning (this was just 8 weeks ago). Fishing out of my jon boat, and 4th cast of the morning landed my personal best of 7lbs, 10oz. Awesome day! Pretty exciting fighting a huge fish in a little tin boat in the dark! Quote

D4u2s0t Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 My biggest of the year was a tad under 5 lbs caught deadsticking a smokin rooster in about 3-4 feet of water. That's a pretty big fish for my area. Got a pickerel a tad over 2.5 feet on a spinnerbait, but it was skinny. Ripped a huge hole in it's mouth, so didn't weigh it. Got it off the bait and immediately put it back in, didn't even take it out of the water fully. i'm not familiar enough with pickerel to even try to estimate weight so i'm not going to. Quote
Fishbone Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 This probably doesn't count, but I caught a 28 pound, 44 inch Striped Bass in the Jersey surf on a large chunk of Bunker on a number 10/0 circle hook. It was like my first buck. Quote
Super User Raul Posted November 10, 2009 Super User Posted November 10, 2009 13.86 lbs. Rapala Shad Rap SR7SD. Quote
Bantam1 Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 14-4 on a prototype 3:16 1-Up swimbait. I lost my cell phone in the process of trying to snap a picture. Drove around the lake for a few minutes with the fish in my livewell trying to find someone with a camera with no luck. Ended up releasing the fish after not being able to find a camera. I was even offering one of my reels to someone that could take a picture and send it to me. That fish ended up costing me over $200 lol Largest fish I have a picture of is 13-2 caught on a 3:16 10.5" Wake Bait. Quote
Josh Bassman Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I caught a 4 lbs small mouth on one of these this summer. Texas rigged casting to shore. Quote
riverfisher Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 The one on the top Storm Chug Bug 5ish. The other was 4.65 Strike King Pro Model #5 Sexy Shad. I love big SMB!! Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted November 10, 2009 Super User Posted November 10, 2009 6-2 largemouth caught on a 5/8 jitterbug. 6:05 AM, no wind, no waves, temp was about 75. I had been starting the retreive as soon as the bait hit the water and not getting any bites. I threw out over a road bed and let it sit for a couple of seconds until the waves cleared. The LM hit as soon as I started to move the jitterbug. Quote
SPAZ Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 8lb 7oz . . . caught on a homemade spinnerbait (white w/white willows).
